Can't have NPC roommates because of extra sims in household

I don't know if this is a bug or a glitch, and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. My game was updated and 100% vanilla. To keep it short, I started with 1 sim. I wanted to give her a roommate. There were 2 beds available, one for my sim and the other for the roommate. I was able to successfully get a roommate and assign her a bed. Next, I decided to add a pet to the household so I did. Then I thought, I want an extra roommate, but I couldn't put in an ad because the pet in the household is taking up a slot meant for an NPC roommate with a message saying you don't have the number of beds available! Pets can't use the beds, and they definitely can't pay rent! The only work around I've found is to remove the pet from the household and add them back later once you get the number of roommies you want or to get a roommate first then adopt a pet later. Very annoying to have to find a work around for this. Also, due to further testing, this occurrence happens with any extra sim that's part of the main household, including babies, toddlers and even children, all of which cannot pay rent and 2 of them can't use the bigger beds. So in short, I'm basically going to have to have a bunch of unnecessary beds to accommodate for the number of roommates I want?

It's currently a bug. That's the workaround I had posted there in removing the pet from the family and adding the roommate then the pet.

Hit me too so they know more people have this problem. :)

Put some extra beds in the basement, or must they be accessible, too?

That's what I had to do because my lot was too small to put them anywhere else. In any case, I shouldn't have to buy a bunch of beds to accommodate for the number of roommates I want because of a pet, or baby or toddler.

Yeah, I came across this bug when I had a pet. But I didn't realize it was also caused by babies and toddlers. Children, I believe, is working as intended because they do need a bed to sleep in.
