Community Zoo. Could It Work?

I'm thinking about trying to run a zoo/petting zoo and wanted some ideas on how to possibly make it work.

I'd want to use some of the animals from The Kalino's collection.

Maybe set it up as a retail lot with an area set aside for selling pet supplies and gift shop souvenirs?

  • I don't think you can just keep pets at a community lot. Don't they have to live in a residential lot?
  • I suppose if you set up fences to act as enclosures and set the gates to disallow pets, you could get them to stay. But I'm not sure how you would add them without them being part of the household, which would make it hard for you to get them to stay on the lot permanently, unless you had your sim live their, too.
  • I have so many saves I think I might go into one and set up Magnolia Promenade as this... All lots could have a certain variety type of animal ..or ones that match in temperment/size. All lots would have one human caretaker, hopefully one with good vet skills ect. One lot could be a vet... so you could stock up on vet treats before going on tour. I wouldn't try to put the animals in cages. Maybe a large fence could surround the lots. I would think the expectation when you visit though would be to care for and interact with the animals, because usually when I go anywhere that has pets my sim has to bathe and feed them. Will other animals be running free in the streets when I do this?
Oh and I'll probably use stuff others built but sounds like a fun little experiment.

Opps edited to say they would be residential lots of course, all except for the vet.
  • @Hermitgirl those are great ideas. And what got me to thinking about it was some zoo lots I saw on the Gallery.

  • Those look great @simgirl1010

What I would worry about is making sure they have shelter from the weather. The caretaker would need a small home area and the rest of the sheltered area could be made to look like.. areas with pet bedding and care objects so they wouldn't look strange roaming inside the house much.
I just gave it a quick try with what I could find and I think I'll switch it out some. I'd want the animals to be either outside or mostly hanging out in an inside area that looks appropriate for them. I think I'd want to go more for a sanctuary type of feel where sims can go visit and pitch in to help ... or experience being around animals. By the way these animals are amazing. I decided to make a big cat household (they are all actually dogs).

Opps edited to say I didn't make these they all came from the simmer you linked too..
