Creating townies that don't live in the world

I don't know much about this, and I rarely create townies as there are already more than I recall ever seeing in my game. But, perhaps the reason why EA has them in rather small households ( 1, 2 or 3 townies is quite common) is to avoid the entire household to show up whenever they are activated?

Did you consider rather adjust the already existing townies? That might save you some time.

I just download townies from the gallery. I have no issue putting 8 of them in a household but I will say that it seems like the game only pulls the first 4 from a household and never uses the rest.

I started a new save and literally deleted every single sim and household, in every single world. I created a ton, I mean a TON of single sims, each household is 8 sims (all male or all female), I randomized the traits and names and put them in all of the houses in each world. I deleted all of the sims from "other households" in Manage Households tab, and told MCCC to not fill houses, don't cull relationships, don't marry people or have babies.

I wanted all of my worlds to ONLY be single sims and let my girl just find her love without me directing her to, it's been quite fun. All of the community venues are only my sims so far (besides necessary sims like the bartender, etc), although there was a teenage girl show up at my house which I have no idea who she was, I didn't greet her.

I currently have 440 single sims in my worlds.

I have lots of 8-Sim households of townies I created. They show up like other townies, basically one at a time. Sometimes more than one shows up from the same household by chance, but the game doesn’t really seem to pair them or anything unless they become played Sims or get moved into a house.

It actually doesn't save time as I downloaded a bunch of already famous sims from the gallery with jobs and fixed clothing and the right looks. Like that I only have to click on an expensive lot, add 8 of the downloaded sims from the gallery in one household, move them in which they can't afford, cancel the action and they pop up as townies.

The problem with EA's townies is that they never make sense in any way. I would have to cheat and give them a job, proper skills, edit their looks and clothing and then combine them.. I rather not :D

BTW, thanks guys for the comments. It seems it won't matter if I put 8 random sims together and it will save me a bunch of time as well. I tried to pair up similar celebs in 1 household, so if they would become friends somehow, it would make more sense for them to have connections with each other.
I'm excited to have my rich and famous sims visit some lounges and nightclubs and see a ton of different celebs popping up :)

What do you mean, when they are activated? When they would be part of a played household? I intent to just leave them be and not make them part of my active households. I just want to have them roaming around in the game. :)

I meant when they are activated by the game, as used as NPCs on the lot that is actively played. I don't know how the game pick what sims to walk by, some are our own and some are from the townie pool. I just read someone stating that the game mostly activates only the first few from a household, so if you group 8 of them you might never get to see them all?

I use npcc mod that helps with maintaing low townie presence, because I really don't want sims I have no story for/relationship with to be present unless necessary (mailman, etc.). But I think that when you create household in CAS or merge other households together that don't even live in the town, they will probably only be acquaintances. If you use mods I would recommend using the MCCC or download families from the gallery as someone above already suggested.

Ah ok, i won't be a problem then.
I don't know about the first 4 of the household, that's kind of a strange design.
I will probably put them in clubs as well, so i could work around that if that's the case.

I create 8-sim households and then separate them through “manage households”. It's not necessary, but sometimes I want my townies to be my roommates, and they will agree only if they're living alone.

I like townies when I've edited them and there's a part of me that is amused by the hot messes. Yes, though, I'd like more townie management.
