criticisms of the sims 4 year 2020

I think the game is great, I just wish it wasn't so incredibly buggy. I'm tired of losing saves....

bug fixs have been slower thats for sure

Slow bug fixes is probably a result of the coronavirus and working at home situation.

I don't like how slow the bug fixes are this year, especially for bigger bugs.

I think they probably should not have had almost every pack released so far this year be something brand new and experimental except for the one community voted stuff pack. They do need to keep adding new things and not just rehash the previous versions, or they'll lose a part of the fan base that will get bored. But they should probably not go a whole year without releasing anything that's still missing from the previous games outside of a few objects in the stuff packs.

It of course doesn't help that a lot of the fan base is having a very bad year and has a lot more time at home to play games. A lot of people could really use something to get excited about and when all of the themes are unknowns instead of the things they've been waiting for, well, it's just not the best year for that kind of disappointment.

But there is still one pack to be released for the year. Maybe it will be something requested this time, like hotels or casinos or romance or fleshed out teens or werewolves or fairies... and at least some portion of the fan base will be happier.

well the year isn't over yet so we might get some of the missing things also I agree with you

I feel like bugs were worst last year and bugs from Get to Work and Moschino and Discover University make those packs unplayable. I feel like packs have been most realistic this year depicting real life places such as the Northwest, Disneyland, and IKEA. I like how consequences are more focused on this year in that gameplay isn't just positive only content. I do think the base game still needs a lot more help. I feel like EA needs to upgrade their websites and communication methods. I wish that EA allowed more time for EA Game Changer and testers to play the packs before release dates like mentioned in this link why some left the program. https://wildlyminiaturesandwich.tumblr.com/post/623599590034358272/why-i-left-the-ea-game-changer-program It would help with communication, decrease favoritism, and allow more time for bug reports if time crunch wasn't as bad as it has been this year with the new restrictions.

Now for the criticisms. I tried pointing it out before and no one cared despite it being a major problem with bugs releasing packs too frequently and rushed. People only begged for more buggy DLC rather than bug fixes between pack releases especially on Twitter and during the live streams. Why it has been frustrating now that it is too late six years later. It was an issue with the Sims 3 too. More DLC types again have repeated Sims 3 history. So I personally think last 11 years have been the worst. Push for microtransactions has increased sales but at the cost of customer satisfaction. I don't think next three years things will change much and Sims 4 will probably still be around. I don't know when will be enough time to fix this iteration and have a feeling it will end up like the Sims 3 bugged without mod fixes. I have no idea what direction Sims community wants the Sims to take other than to end it completely with eliminating Maxis.

I've had a great ts4 year so far. I have lots of plans and not really enough time to do everything I'd like to.

I have plenty of packs and don't think I will need to be restrictive when adding more. That's why I don't mind if they make a few packs that are a bit experimental and perhaps with a narrow theme. So, I'm quite happy with this year's packs, actually Star Wars is the only one I skipped. ECO had lots of content and good BB stuff, a bit too focused on ECO but that's easy to adjust to my liking. Not impressed with the NAPs, but at least they were only one of several new features. Love the Knitting pack. Also added another pack early this year...must have been StrangerVille, that I also like for the world and weird settings.

There are a few bugs that ought to be addressed, but as long as the game is playable and there are mods on offer, I'll survive.

So, all in all a happy simmer here.

there are so many bugs. the eco pack isnt even that fun because half of the content from it i cant use. i think the idea was great but the execution of the pack was poorly done. they didnt do enough testing and the fixes are taking so long. i hope they fix the bugs soon. i really wanr to enjoy my ep i paid $40 for.

I feel that regarding the bug issues, EA needs to figure these problems into their long term Sims planning and should have been accommodating them by now. For four iterations the game has been made over and over, and in each version, gets buggier as more and more DLC is added. It's about time they anticipate this beforehand and continuously expand their bug team as the game gets bigger.

Staying on top of the quality is the least they can do with the amount of money this game makes. And while I understand that not all bugs are universal and some are difficult to replicate, they could really do better with hot fixes, particularly when a pack first comes out, so that we're not waiting months just to have a new pack be playable.
