@GalacticGal your issue with no Host is frustrating. Maybe you could use it as a lesson Erik teaches his children? Sometimes, no matter how hard you try, you don’t always succeed at everything. It’s disappointing, sure, but it’s the hard work that really counts. You can get some self-satisfaction in a job well done once you’ve completed a project like that, the Accolade is just an external thing. But I do also see that it’s anything that his winning streak is messed up by a game malfunction rather than Erik just happening to lose.
All this is only my suggestion, feel free to ignore me! It is pretty cool having a Starlight Accolade win every week.
Yes, it is odd. Sometimes, I don't even experience bugs that others complain about on the forums, until I actually read about it. I'm not always immune. LOL For instance, I had Erik take his kids (all but baby Michael) to a favorite Italian place to order a cake for the twins' birthday. The place was fully staffed, no issues. Odd that the bug manifests itself in the one thing I care the most about. And I'm basically waiting for a time when Erik isn't nominated and then that will be that. The streak does have to end at some point. But, yeah, having the game mechanics throw things out-of-whack is simply unacceptable.
I will be setting this save aside, for now to go back in Time. I would like to explore Erik's early years, if you will. I had tried this once before. I was going to attempt to have Erik become a singer, using an earlier iteration of the Road to Fame mod, to help provide the fame aspect. Kind of a do it yourself experiment. Then they announced Get Famous. I uninstalled RTF and mentioned that I did so, when another player told me it had been updated with a professional Singer Career! I was over the moon. Things started out well. Erik was gaining fame, left right and sideways. He was suddenly invited to be on a magazine cover, and from there he really took off. Then he could no longer perform. I sought help from Discord, and we tried a few things. Turned out Erik, himself, had corrupted. I've been afraid to have a save that long again, until now. I've been in the habit of doing a Save As, with every gaming session. Learned from Sims3, it's supposed to 'renew' the save.
So, since this glitch is alive and well, I will occupy myself with a new save to tell the backstory of this family. I'm debating with myself over whether to use the 'canon' I set up in the written mini-series (see my siggie) or to keep with the newly established backstory I created in the Sims. I'm very intrigued with Joseph Cantrell, Sr. being a lowly teacher trying to make ends meet to take care of his ever-growing family. This would give cause to his being invited by Vulcan to head the Human Community on Vulcan school.
Either way, Joseph did inherit money and invested it quite wisely in some shipping lanes where he became fabulously wealthy. A Shipping Magnet, if you will. In my books he was a Business man. (That career is just so boring in this game, though.) Thank you for your thoughts. :)
