- Thanks, I'll try this. I can't stand how dark it is all the time! I still hope they make a patch or something to brighten things up.
- Rawla11 years agoSeasoned AceI definitely agree that the lighting needs to be adjusted. My main goal for posting this thread was to inform others that it was not a glitch with their PC and there was a way to make it better. Whether that way irritates some players or not (yes it does), it is not something you have to live with because you think your graphics card is malfunctioning.
Also, I chose to use the wall lights. Seems like the cheapest wall light does well.
@Ayuism - You're welcome. :) I hope they come out with a patch too.

OMG, SIMyth, is that you? Hi!!!!!!
Yes. It's SIMyth. This is my main (and only here) account. Hello! :) - Rawla11 years agoSeasoned AceI used the SIMyth account to create the challenge. It was a subaccount I rarely used. I like to keep anonymous. Guess that doesn't apply anymore. lol. Can I still hide? :p
- Something else I noticed is that the more expensive the light, the brighter it is. The cheap lights are just like real life, cheap and dim.
But, alas, adding more lights is not a satisfactory answer for someone like me. I want the game to be aesthetically pleasing while I play the game and when I build, I don't want to have to put tons of extra lights everywhere just because the interiors are so dark. That defeats the purpose of building, in my opinion. I hope EA fixes it or eventually I will have to resort to modding the lighting file. I'm sure it's easy...I should look into it. - Rawla11 years agoSeasoned Ace@Mstybl95 - I did not know the brightness gets better with the more expensive lighting. That makes sense. Thanks.
- I found that the lighting worked grate once I took it off laptop mode...When laptop mode is on then it didn't matter how many lights I put on the sims would be dark.... Now I have about the same amount of windows and lights as I used in sims 3 and it's well lit up
- Rawla11 years agoSeasoned Ace@StoneNumber7 - I did not know that. I'm glad it worked for you. I hope it helps others too. Thanks for sharing.
@everyone - My first post was marked as spam. I'm very sorry. I did not mean to upset anyone. I just wanted to help. I won't comment here again but if anyone has anymore tips to help others with their lighting, feel free to comment. Take care everyone. Happy Simming. - susanleona11 years agoSeasoned AceAs in Sims 3 you can adjust the lights individually for the brightness level, and for the colour. Some default light colours make things dimmer.
- @Rawla Some users on the forums are infamous for flagging as Spam for no reason. This was a great thread to begin, don't let them get you down.
And just like @StoneNumber7 said, my dark Sim problem was fixed by turning off Laptop Mode.
