Do you have individual money accounts in your game?
I used a spreadsheet for money accounts for a few years now, and I don't think I'd want to play my game without. I do play 100+ houses on rotation though, so there is no way I can remember money transfer stuff.
In the spreadsheet there is one line per sim, and columns for cash, bank account, owned stocks, owned estates, and a total of it all. Then I sum up the lines of each household. There is also a column for deposits and transfers, but they are temporary or smaller sums. Say a teen earns §100 from a job, in game it goes into the household cash and in my sheet I'll withdraw it from the main parent and add it to the teen in he transfer column. It affects both sims' totals, and I won't need to deal with it right away, whether it should affect bank account or cash etc. The "transfer" column is normally cleared on every rotation by spending a few minutes making such decisions (normally affecting bank savings account. Transfer is also used if say a parent helps a moved out child with a small loan, instead of gifting money in game, I just add the transfer in my spread sheet and can deal with it later. If it's supposed to be paid back I make a note of what year it will be due.
My sims also get bank loans, but because the sheet works for this as well I never bothered to install a bank mod. Besides - with all these households I'd freak out if such a mod suddenly was broken, now I have full control. Bank grants 1% interest for deposits, and charges 2% interest for loans (while balance is negative).
This routine is also quite nifty whenever there is a heritage. It's pretty easy to see how assets can be shared between heirs. Normally I let main heir get all assets and then pay other heirs their share by handing them cash, stocks or estates. Sometimes there is only a bank loan to inherit, so the loan will be shared equally (unless there is a testament - max 50% to main heir though).
Do anyone else arrange finances in a similar way?
