@Midevil_ChaosI also take inspiration from the Big Bang Theory, probably my favourite comedy show! My first Sim is based on Penny at the very start of it. I mostly use their names for surnames and pets names, I could never do justice to Sheldon but I did name a smart little dog after him and gave him to a Programmer. I once created the entire Heck family from The Middle too and tried to replicate their house, even the above ground pool they had. I use a lot of US TV as inspiration.
I add some of my lots to the Gallery but I just feel weird adding my Sims for some reason.
I'm in the UK but Ibiza was a lovely place to visit. There's no clubbing going on now lol but for me it's all about love of music. I'd be at a concert or a really great club. One of my favourite Sims is a superstar DJ and her story was a lot of fun.I think the term "partying" is a different thing and not so much a UK term, it's definitely open to interpretation. It conjures up an image of maybe being quite alcohol-centric perhaps but each to their own, no judgement here.
I just went clubbing or to live shows. For me it was just going out dancing to great music. I'm glad to have had those experiences because I loved dancing and now I'm unable to do so any more. We liked to copy as many dance routines as we could possibly remember and I like that aspect in the Sims where you can get them to do a coordinated routine if you have Get Together. My fun Sims do that a lot and I love watching those little routines and dance offs.
My primary condition is muscle wastage which means my back isn't strong. It's not as bad as scoliosis luckily, my friend suffers badly with that.@Midevil_ChaosI usually play a sim that's got the features and life I wish I had or want to try, so I can explore different ways of being, and see how their lives inform me about how I think and what my assumptions are. Lately though, I've wanted to explore a Sim that's like myself.
- I do have one save in which I have been recreating many of my extended family and their homes - but I don’t play that one. It’s more a static model where I just enjoy getting the Sims and lots as representative as possible.
For games I play, I often start with the randomizer then grow a style/personality from there, making my Sims different each time. Though sometimes I will also start with a particular story idea in mind and create the Sims accordingly. @Midevil_Chaos Hello! First, allow me to say that I love this thread. Thanks so much for starting it. It's really nice to see how others like to play.
Whenever I start a new game, I always play a character that is loosely based on myself. I have a "base" save which includes a bunch of households and lots I've created; mostly they comprise a gay community for Jona to interact with. Jona usually starts as a single sim, although I sometimes start with a household based on my family. I haven't yet played a game that includes my extended family but maybe some day. My dad passed away in 2020, not long before I started playing, and it has been a great comfort having him in my game at times. It might sound a little silly but it's nice to know that I can still see him whenever I want, even though I know it's not real.
Jona is always a musician and most often becomes a celebrity. This is because becoming a performer was my aspiration when I was young, before life got in the way. lol It's fun to see how things play out for him. Then I usually just play through the legacy; his kids and their kids and so on (until I'm ready to start over haha)
Sometimes, when I am inspired to create a new lot, I will create a family to go with it. However, I don't normally play them for long. They usually just become a part of Jona's world. :-)
The great thing about this game is that there is no right or wrong way to play. Thanks again for starting this thread! Happy Simming!
- @JonaO703 That is such a beautiful idea for lost loved ones to inspire characters in the game. I've always used it through loss as a distraction and very much after losing my parents too. I started playing Sims 1, then Bustin Out at about the time of trying to cope with the loss of my dad. I think I threw myself into it at the time.
When I lost my Labrador I added Cat's and Dogs and built my dog rescue as a little tribute to him because he was taken from a household that mistreated him as a pup. I couldn't bring myself to add him but it was very comforting building the rescue and creating a vet Sim to care for the town's strays.
It's one reason that this remains my favourite game.. despite occasionally raging at bugs (a lot).
I hope your idea gives other players some inspiration too.🥰 - Midevil_Chaos3 years agoSeasoned Veteran
Thanks! :D That's cool.
However, I am sorry to hear about your dad. My parents are getting there, as they are older and we never know what can happen. I can't imagine what it would be like to be without them ☹️

Oh! You should see my Sheldon. Pretty damn convincing if I do say so myself. You should check out my peeps and lots - I think you'd be very interested. There is nothing like having something as perfect as it can be with the limitations we have. In any event, I think you should totally add yourself to the game :D I for one would be interested in seeing you ingame.
What type of music do you like? 80s, 90s, 2000s? Or more like modern stuff?
Glad to hear it's not as bad as scoliosis. If anything, I hope it's not too bad on you. Physical pain and what not are never fun to deal with, big or small. *hugs* - @Midevil_Chaos my builds are in the Gallery I think under my Xbox user TensiveBoar1730 or my screen name here, it shows me both names for some reason. I have a lot of technical problems with the Gallery, so it won't show me any other creations except for a few Xbox builds and my own. It really annoys me because I'd love to see creations from players I talk to here. But we do have this great thread:

I can't download creations either, even mine because I get an error code and I lose saves. It's done this for years, so it's lucky I'm a builder!
I like all music and I've seen a lot of bands and DJs, when I was very young it was a hobby to go where music was! My Sims always have music on and I love the karaoke/singing skill. My Sims always sing "Weekender".
I do play as a mini me in Animal Crossing because it's less stressful lol. It's a little version of me, but Sims is a bit more risky I think. I've had a lot of bugs and lost Sims. I'm one of those people who doesn't throw out photos as I think I might be more superstitious than I realised lol. I thought about creating my cat but again, if anything happened to my Sim cat I'd freak out! - Midevil_Chaos3 years agoSeasoned Veteran
@simsplayer818
What is the error msg you get and/or symptoms (I.e. black screen etc.)? And do you get it on PC or actually on your Xbox? Unless you were saying you only played it on console and not both (Thanks for the link btw).I have to know, what is your favourite song from the 90s and early 2000s? Also, you said you like all music? Including Death Metal? And no, I don't like that genre looool. I am a Pop fan through and through. What can I say? I'm boring XD. But I had to ask regardless lol.
Oh! Please tell me, are you also a fan of Austin Powers? Mini Me was frigging adorable and hilarious lol. Usually most people don't use the term "mini me". I have to admit, I have never played Animal Crossing, since when I actually learned about it, it was probably last year lol. I only bought a Switch this year because I wanted to have a console on the go when I went to either boring places or hotels when travelling. - Missie_Kate3 years agoSeasoned Hotshot
What a interesting question! (✿◠‿◠)
It's fun to see how other people play. But most definitely for me I create sims that don't have much of a connection to me or the real world, in terms of their actual names and character. But when I thought about the question deeper, I realised that I put a little bit of my own personality in each sim. I find it interesting to create sims made with my imagination, in fact I think I actually have a preference for Create-A-Sim. I've always enjoyed making sims and thinking of a story for them, I do take inspiration from the real world of course. A little bit like writing a book I suppose! But that's why I've always had a love for the sims, the fact you can use your imagination to create whatever you want. I love a good story, always have. There's nothing like some healthy escapism! whether it's your favourite book, video game, TV show or movie. ❤(●'◡'●)❤
