If just playing then aging off if doing a legacy or another kind of challenge then aging is set to long

I play with aging on as I play generations and can't have them living forever.
I have prolonged a few of my favourite sims with the elixir of youth potion, however.
Plus, I'm not a fan of elders once they stoop. have cracking backs and baggy faces! Unfortunately, something we're all going to face eventually! 😬

I play with aging off. Every sim year on New Years Eve I turn aging ON, and before 1st day of Spring ends, I will turn it back off. This way all my played and non-played sims will age one year per cycle of seasons. This makes New Years Eve special, too. Because the game require a certain and random amount of time played after an elder hits the "get ready to die", I will need to play a couple simdays with aging on (but I always will avoid doing so during midnight) my sims will not die from old age only on 1st day of Spring. But most do...

I agree with aging off, too💔!
I got too sad when I first started playing TS4 when I didn't know how to turn aging off or normal life span. My Sims died every 3 IRL days, so I found out how to turn aging off. Actually, in between I played on long. Now, aging is off.

it depends on my gameplay, if i'm doing some challenges i play with aging on (mostly normal lifespan)
if i won't do any challenges especially if my active household is big i turn it off - snofnugg1 year agoNew Ace
I usually play with aging on, even though I feel it's sad when my sims die, but then I try to shift my focus on to the new sim that becomes my main one, and discover new things 🙂

@snofnugg That's the best way to play a generational gameplay. To remember past Generations, I do a photo op of that Generation, frame it, and then put it on a wall in a church on a Lot that I designed into a cemetery. This helps me remember past Generations I played that have moved on.
Here's my Generation 1 photo op. It has my Founder, his wife, his stepdaughter (along with her husband and their child), his son, and his two daughters.

Taking pictures is a great way to remember older generations 🙂
- ShiwaLevania1 year agoNew AdventurerI usually play with ageing on only for the active household with the long life span instead of the normal one. Sometimes I turn on ageing for all households for a few days. Though I prolong the life of my favourite Sims sometimes using the youth potion so that the current life stage is set back, and sometimes I let Sims grow older before it's time. Just depending on what I want. Also switch between households, which are all in one save file. And sometimes I cannot save the game, if a Sim dies accidentally before I'm ready. I always take a lot of pictures of my Sims, and put a Selfie on the gravestone.
