- Seasons will be out so early that I am not sure anymore. Maybe TS4 will just get packs more often if it is near its end (like TS3 did).

https://twitter.com/simgurugrant/status/999315371571138561?s=21 - Seasons coming out right in the middle of the year makes me think no. Even if they released the new EP for the holiday season it'd be coming out just 5 or 6 months after Seasons. The only other time we got two EPs in one year (Get to Work/Get Together) they were over 8 months apart. And there's still a good 7ish months between Cats & Dogs and Seasons.
I think the only way it could happen is if they already have EP6 fully planned out and in development or if they got more staff for EP work. If not I definitely see another GP coming before the year is up. - janyses7 years agoSeasoned Ace

I don't think Grant can be more clear than this:

I'm sure @Erpe will think "He said 'content,' which could mean Sims 5 or other content." But the topic of the tweet is THE SIMS 4. Lol. "IceyJ;c-16506379" wrote:

Thank you for sharing that tweet which I somehow had missed!
No, I agree that he meant content for the Sims 4. I just don’t really see why he said it. But most likely he wants to make more new content in updates for TS4 even after TS5 has been released. Otherwise I don’t know what he could mean by that statement.
Times have changed though and the Sims Freeplay still gets a lot of new content even this long time after the Sims Mobile has been released. So EA doesn’t mind anymore to release new content for two Sims games on the same platform which could be inspired by the live service concept which all game companies now use for most of their games. Smaller packs are apparently also a part of that idea. So I don’t think that I really will be so surprised if EA still releases a few packs for TS4 after TS5’s release. At least not if the packs will be fewer and smaller anyway.- janyses7 years agoSeasoned AceI think the possibility of Sims 5 being released and Sims 4 still getting packs at the same time is highly unlikely. The PC games require way more resources to produce than mobile. I can't see them trying to maintain both at the same time; they'd definitely want to move resources from one to the other.
The more likely scenario is that Grant is trying to squash the rumors that TS4 will end soon because it's not ending. There is no TS5 being worked on (yet) but only time will tell.
By the way, I just want to be clear that none of my statements are 'wishful thinking' because Sims 3 is still my go-to game. I couldn't care less if TS5 is announced tomorrow. (Although I'd be reluctant to buy if TS4 was abandoned in this state.) I only try to be reasonable with what I've seen or heard. - @IceyJ I don’t accuse you for wishful thinking and I also don’t believe that Grant just was trying to crush some rumors. Usually I would agree with you that EA wouldn’t have two big similar Sims games for the PC at the same time. But a lot point in the direction that this is exactly what EA plans:
1. It is time for EA to announce TS5 (maybe as TS5 or maybe under a different name) unless EA wants to lose a whole generation of new young simmers who now think that TS4 has become too big already for them to start buying and playing.
2. EA has always lost at least half of the current simmers every time EA has released a new basegame. Maybe EA has found a way to try to prevent this now?
3. TS4 has been marketed as a live service with smaller packs released more often and with new content released in free monthly updates too. This has become possible because new packs and new content now isn’t sold in physical stores anymore but almost exclusively as digital downloads.l
4. EA has always attempted to make each new big Sims game as different from the previous games as possible. EA will likely do the same with TS5 and once again target it mainly at new young simmers (who now mainly just play the free mobile online Sims games).
Grant’s statement made me think even more about what kind of Sims game that TS5 most likely will be and if EA wants to still release content for TS4 too then I think that this increases the likelihood that TS5 will become an online multiplayer game. This would make a lot of sense if it is targeted primarily at the young mobile Sims gamers and then it would make a lot of sense if EA still released new content for TS4 too to still also target the more traditional Sims players. - I don't know why but I think no. Maybe early next year. I hope so though. I'd be happy of there was another expansion.
- I sure hope so! If they just release a game pack or STUFF pack, I think there would be a lot of angry Simmers.

Unless they’ve expanded and put together a second EP team, then I don’t think they have the stamina to make another EP in time for later this year.
I’m not even sure how they made seasons in seamingly less than a year (it’s only been 7-8 months since C&D).
During the Community Pack discussions, it was mentioned that they work on several packs at a time. They might have had some devs working on the actual weather system for a year or two. Then they could have also gotten the concept art done in the meantime and chosen an art style. And they do sometimes pull devs from the other teams -- they did that to help add content to Get Together, I recall. I'm not going to worry about how they did it -- I'm just glad it's here. I won’t be surprised if Seasons even becomes the very last EP for the Sims 4. But I expect EA to release both an SP and a GP too this year.
You must have missed this tweet:

No, I didn’t miss it. But where does it say that those are EPs for TS4? Maybe only one of them will ever be released and then it could be a GP for TS4 or maybe even some pack for TS5?
Grant specifically clarified later that the poll is for TS4 and not TS5.

I notice two things:
1. He said pack and not expansion pack. So we don’t know what kind of pack it will be.
2. “After some normal stuff” likely means after the packs they make in the rest of 2018 or just after one of those packs. So it could be some extra pack they will make while we wait for TS5 to be released.
I'd say by "normal" stuff it means things like University, maybe a revamped Generations to add more features for all ages (teens and elders need some attention), the Farming pack -- things that would be attractive to folks looking for everyday activity for their Sims. Then maybe they get into the wild and crazy stuff like supernaturals and the stuff on the poll. As long as we're able to turn off the features (I don't want End of the World to affect all my saves) I'm fine.
