Do your sims have their own culture?

In my games there's a culture that develops and tends to change over time. Currently spouses are found through the wishing well, talking like a pirate/free food/fighting and fire are repeated traditions that regularly arrive as my Brindleton Bay was founded by Pirates, there are tattoos that mean special things(like if they're married), there are special clothes for various occasions as well as styles that are seen more than others, there are no weddings(sims just sort of move in and elope this may change in the next generation or two) and there's a set inheritance law. There are a few small things that I'm forgetting. The holiday traditions have really made the culture pop too - remberace on New Year's Day, Fasting/fighting/attend a ceremony/grand meal on the last day of winter, and streaking/drinking/talking like a pirate/free food and drink/fighting on Founder's Day. There's a LOT of streaking at the moment. So what sort of culture do your sims have? How often does it change?

  • typical trashy millennial culture, since most of them are YA's and I don't have aging on.
  • I'm playing a Game of Thrones prequel game set 25 years before the events of the books. I added a bunch of festivals based upon the Faith of the Seven. I'm gradually altering community lots to reflect places in the books or naming them after people from the books/history of Westeros. So yes, this save game has its own culture for sure.
  • Can't we just use the "Club Gatherings" to - maybe - create a religious culture?

Picture it - Sims, dressed in black hooded (Grim Reaper type) robes, gathering around a fire pit, at midnight! Worshipping the all mighty Watcher (or whatever your imagination has in store for them)!

For me - I feel I only know my own culture - and I am not willing to touch someone elses that I don't know everything about. I would find it disrespectful on my part - so I just do not do it. Sure I have friends, even family from various cultures - Big family reunions at my grandparents house used to look like United Nations gatherings - but for me to practice something I know so little about even when I know some of the basics just will not happen.

I believe too much in respecting the person than to try an emulate their history. I just treat all my Sims as equals without culture really coming into it for the most part period. Most I do is sometimes dress Sims in outfits I am aware that is part of their culture or use certain decor at various times of the year for them - but not all the time. Mostly for various festivals or celebrations that I know about.

I was mainly talking about a culture that's unique to your sims and is player created.
