The reason I'm asking is because I have a garden that has almost perfect garden plants, except for those that came with the Jungle Adventure. My sim is currently working on those, to get them to perfection as well. It has literally taken me real years just to get this garden to the state it's in now, and I would hate to see all my and my sims hard work just go down the drain. Does anyone know if winter will kill off the garden plants? My guess is that they go dormant until spring. I cant image the gurus wanting to deliberately ruin our hard work or suddenly make gardening restricted to greenhouses.

I have huge gardens too but I'm assuming we will have to put them in greenhouses or in the household inventory during the winter. It would be cool if we could cover them or they would somehow go dormant but I doubt it will be that intricate of a process. My hope is we get some sort of warning either from a weather station or even a drop down.. maybe something orange even like when your electricity is going to be shut off. I don't want my plants to suddenly die. I'm worried about playing in rotation also. Either way though I'm sure there will be some way for you to plan ahead..

Probably just go dormant. The foliage seems to thrive in winter, at least it’s unusually bright green color would suggest so.

Hmm, well in TS2, their health would deteriorate unless you built a greenhouse around them. Of course, produce gardening was introduced in Seasons too, so it's not like you needed to build a greenhouse around pre-existing gardens. In TS3 they just go dormant, but greenhouses were separate from Seasons.My money's on plants going dormant during the winter. I feel like this would upset fewer simmers who've grown elaborate gardens pre-Seasons.

Does anyone know if winter will kill off the garden plants?

I can't imagine that the devs would purposefully create a problem where the plants are killed for good, but I imagine that there'll be something you need to do in Autumn to preserve them until the following spring, maybe?

Nothing official, just a theory. If you have twitter it might be worth asking one of the simgurus :)

You can always put them in the household's inventory for the winter time if you don't have money/space to build a greenhouse.
I think it is more likely like you say that they go dormant.

It's not convenient and that's what I love
When you have a sim that has to get a job during winter because they can't get harvestables and they are too poor to build a greenhouse
