My vampires just hired a butler and had a party right after that. Since the guests included some humans (mostly for vampires to drink from), I hired a caterer, who cooked quite a lot of food. Which led to guests leaving plates all over the penthouse.After the party I tried clicking the butler, but didn't find a way to make her clean up all those plates. And she did nothing to them even autonomously. She just walked right past those plates and started wiping some nonexistent dirt. Eventually my vampire had to do the cleaning up herself.Is this how it's supposed to be? I mean, I guess some of the plates still had some food on them, and it wasn't yet spoiling. Was that the reason the butler kept ignoring them? I kind of understand people don't want butlers to take the food from in front of their sims. But then, there should be a way to ask the butler to do the cleaning up. I mean, I really wouldn't want to wait until all that food is spoiled.

Yes. the butler will clean what needs to be cleaned. But remember the butler is not a robot with no needs, it is a sim with needs. Therefore, it will take priorities and leave the rest for later. I found it best to let the butler do what it wants. If I REALLY need something accomplished I will have a sim do it but this tends to be rare with the butler.

That's all you can ask for from a person -- ahem -- a sim.

@kati77 I think @I8PIKACHU is trolling you. In my experience the bulter leaves a lot to be desired. I've pretty much stopped using them. When I do hire one my expectations are very low

Ive never had a problem with the butler... granted they take time to react to dirt/cleaning and wont clean stuff that isnt completely eaten or spoiled (which is a good thing) they will however take care of the garden and basically accomplish all services except repair on their own.

Does the butler actually clean anything that needs to be cleaned?

Yes. the butler will clean what needs to be cleaned. But remember the butler is not a robot with no needs, it is a sim with needs. Therefore, it will take priorities and leave the rest for later. I found it best to let the butler do what it wants. If I REALLY need something accomplished I will have a sim do it but this tends to be rare with the butler.

Yes, but the butler didn't really have anything else to do with all those plates around. All she did was walk happily around the penthouse and sometimes sprayed and wiped some corner of a furniture that normally doesn't even need cleaning. So, I think the obvious dirt should be a priority.

I'll just have to see, where it goes from here. She already hates my vampire, because she saw her feed from one of the guests. I'm pretty sure she'll end up donating some plasma herself eventually...

While your butler will have emotions, it shouldn't be that impactful to the duties. Let the butler decide what needs to be done even if you don't like it. That's not far from real life even if you were the butler's dictator. As long as work is being done, it's probably okay. Make sure a bedroom and bathroom are available for his/her exclusive use.
