I warned you this is a dumb question!I want my sim to garden as a hobby so only about 4 plants at a time. Do the plants age and die like they did in TS3? So far they just keep going and going. He has over 100 mushrooms in his fridge. They won't eat that in 100 generations! I'd like him to grow some different things.Also can you do anything with flowers? They just sit in his inventory right now because I can't figure out what to do with them.

you can use plants and fruits you harvested as bait when fishing. also, I think if you have certain foods from plants in your inventory, you can make different or better quality food when cooking (not sure about that)

Hmm...that's not good. I don't think you can just dig them up and throw them out like in TS3 either. OK back to the drawing board on that idea. I guess no gardening unless I plan for them to do it as a living.

Because I have to have an ever increasing garden to really explore all the things you can grow. I can't just grow a few things then replace them with new things when they die. I like stocking the fridge with home grown veggies but unless my garden gets bigger and bigger I'll only ever have the same things. Not to mention that unless there is something to do with flowers, I'll end up with an inventory chucked full of useless things.I'll still garden. Just not as a hobby.

Flowers (as well as fruits/veggies) can be grafted onto other plants at higher levels. Once grafted, certain combinations will make different fruits/vegetables/flowers.

Go into build mode, you can then drag/delete any plants you no longer want.

ive had a few recently die but i will admit i havent been good at keeping them watered. so not sure if they died from neglect or not

Plants are also sellable in build mode. If you don't want a plant anymore, just switch to build and earn 10 simoleans!

You can sell all that stuff too from your inventory (including flowers), but I'm sure you know that. I would guess you can get rid of plants in build mode, which would clear up some area to plant new things. (I don't garden, so I'm talking not from experience here. Just trying to come up with options.)

Flowers can be used for flower arranging. It's a skill and you can sell arrangements for $100-$300 simoleons depending. I do it for all my flowers. I also pick a lot with a big backyard and designate a portion of it for gardening if that helps with your space issue.
