earning money with Cottage Living?

I know there is no career with Cottage Living but can you make money running a farm? I didn't watch the livestream because I didn't want to be too spoiled for content but curious if my sim can earn a living if I did some type of rags to riches story?
  • To answer the OP question tho... you can make money pounding sand in Sims 4.
I am playing a laid back Hippie / Cottage Core girl with no job, a worthless college degree (aka she never used it to get a job), four chickens and and a small garden and I have to stop myself from getting rich. I only harvest the garden if I need ingredients for cooking or if I actually need to upgrade something. Otherwise my Sim would earn about three times her bill amount each week, just from doing... basically absolutely nothing but fishing, tanning and drinking wine at the pub.
  • Llama wool from minisprite's one llama sells for S180-250 per day, about equivalent to early-career wages.

Care for one llama does not take all day. You can then add on selling cow's milk, eggs, making cheese and selling it, selling cross stitched items, gardening crops, whatever your sim wants to gain skills in.
  • Why can we not sell cheese that we make? It always says that cheese cannot be deleted or sold

Probably not what you want, but you can sell cheese if you set up a Retail location (GTW) and you may also be able to sell it anywhere you want using the sales table.
  • Absolutely! There are quite a few ways to make money just doing the simple living lot challenge even. Selling canned items, produce, flowers, milk, cheese, eggs and other crafts such as cross stitch. There are special eggs and milk to make treats which can be sold as well. I believe even making animal clothing from knitting if you have the ability to knit sells well on plopsy
  • My sim is doing quite nicely with her "farm" (chickens, llama, cow, and about 8 crop plots). Started her off with nothing and she's slowly making bank. She knits and does cross stitch and cans. Two-story house, shed, and it's mostly furnished. My only wish is that there were a few better off the grid lighting choices but that's not what you're asking about.
  • My sim is only allowed to sell what she can find/harvest/grow. She and her family have been renovating an old barn into a 4 bed/3 bath home, using Simple Living and Off-the-Grid lot challenges. She has quite a large garden now, as well as three cows, 3 llamas, and I think she’s up to about 17 chickens! Any produce she gets can only be sold in town at the stalls, from the sales table, and since I got it, a mod that allows you to run a live-in store. Collectables can be sold as well, but painting or similar hobbies that make money are forbidden. She has made friends with a number of rabbits, which helps a lot.

Rylee married Morgyn Ember and they had three kids, the oldest of which is about to become a teen. Merlin (the oldest) is in charge of the chickens, Avalon (middle child) milks the cows, and Nimue (youngest) takes care of the llamas. Morgyn tends to spend his days fishing (fish are a good money maker, as well as good fertiliser for the garden), while Rylee tends the garden, does any extra chores that need doing, cooks, and runs errands for the locals. They’re all a bit frustrated at the lack of electricity but coping fine so far ?. The major annoyance is not being able to cook more than a handful of meals on the stove. If they want some variety in their food, they have to go into town for Rylee to cook at the inn (they also have to do that for birthday cakes).
  • I'm doing the millionaire scenario with a Sim who lives in Henford-on-Bagley & it's taken a while but she's doing pretty well. She started off with a cow & some chickens & started a garden. She also took the gardening career, specialising in the florist branch. I saved her rewards points until she had enough for a Money Tree & I planted the first few seeds that grew on the original tree - I think she has 12 planted now & so she gets a big lump of cash from them now. She also managed to get a golden chicken & that turned all her plants into perfect specimens. All of her flower arrangements get listed on Plopsy & have found that they sell really well on there - anything up to 20,000 Simoleans, even the wilted ones. When her first cow died she got a llama & she now has another cow after the llama died. She has reached the top of the gardening career so her pay is high. She's well over halfway to becoming a millionaire & I've enjoyed playing her.
