Eating food in the bedroom

Yes. They go to any room if there is another sim in there. Our sims are needy and codependant. They can't fathom the thought of being separated. Not even for a bowl of cereal.

I dunno. Tim has his favorite spot to eat at the island. You can see him sitting down in the background. He didn't go sit by his wife.

Only if the other sim is sleeping... or dead.

They seem to go to any seating spot closest to another sim. I've gotten into the habit of directing them to grab food and then where to sit (particularly if I'm trying to get them to watch TV while eating). It seems to help, but sometimes they'll still get up halfway through the meal and wander off.

Seating is a mess in 4. They won't sit at chairs by chess tables or the computer desk either...which they did in 3. A lot of the time in 4 they'll just stand at the kitchen counter and eat.

I have the same issue, they also don't like to sit on the couch if they are eating while watching tv. It's super annoying.

My dining chairs are good but the bed is rated even better. That brings up another issue - Sims 4 needs more style options for chairs and beds with high comfort ratings.

I've even had an adult go sit on a toddler bed to eat while the toddler was asleep and the rest of the family were seated at the dining table or watching TV.Sometimes I think it comes to preference, but I also agree sims like to be with others. a toddler took her dinner into the bedroom sat on her bed to eat and her sister toddler came in and did the same. then the whole family came in say on the toddler beds and ate and talked.

Agreed. The bottom tier options for couches is especially wanting.


Pay close attention to the conditions when your Sim does this.
In my experience if a Sim ls alone the closest/most comfortable option seems to be the default.

There are some exceptions however...just the other day I put an outdoor table on the patio which is adjacent to the kitchen/dining room.
I purposefully put low end chairs out there to discourage them from choosing that option too often



Despite my efforts it seems there is a 50/50 chance that a Sim will choose to eat outside rather than in the dining room.
increasing to 100% if other Sims are already out there.
Same thing applies if there are counter/dining room options available..about a 50/50 split.
I also notice the odds increase that they will opt for outdoor (even pool side) seating on the weekends.
On rare occasions a Sim might grab food, sit at the nearest location and then decide to move to a location so they can watch televison.

What I haven't seen yet is a lone Sim opting to eat on a bed when there are nearer/ more proper seating options available.
(even if the nearer options are less comforatble) If this is happening on a regular basis it may be a bug or a quirk in the routing for your layout.

*Raises hand and jumps up & down* Me! Me! Ever since I updated my game and installed vampires, I have this exact thing happening. I posted about it in another thread dealing with bugs from the new GP. Whether the devs see it or not, well... but the sims not only do it with food they do it with books as well. And they sit on one particular bed. Upstairs! They pass up a dining room full of high rated chairs, the living room full of high rated chairs and couches, go upstairs, pass up a few bedrooms with the same bed only in a different color, to the third bedroom and sit on that bed. If there is another sim in there sitting on it they cancel their action and lay their book or plate on the floor, and then leave the room.
