- VWoodsong4 years agoSeasoned AceShowering in my game seems shorter. I might not have noticed it much if I didn't have a lot of sims who often literally practice their singing in the shower. But now that particular interaction (the City Living "Sing in the shower" one) is worthless, as they're no longer in the shower long enough to improve the skill by even a point or two.
- Babykittyjade4 years agoSeasoned AceBoth showering and eating were nerfed. The time is ridiculously short. No singing in the shower and no social dinner parties.
I spoke on this many times already so I'll just say: I hate it?? - They will never ever be able to please everyone. Before, people complained it took too long (I did; I hated how long showering and eating took and I'm glad they nerfed it.) Now, people complain it's too short.
I don't have issues with socializing during family meals or dinner parties. My sims sit at the table and chat nonstop while eating their meals. If you are multitasking, then eating will be longer.
For family meals, set up the table beforehand. Instead of call to meal, use pick up serving and drag the plates from your inventory to the table. Then, have your sims sit at the table and eat and chat.
For dinner parties, I move the meals to the center of the table. I gather everyone into a group, then have the group sit at the table. While the group is chatting, I call to meal and they all grab a serving from the table and eat.
At least for me, eating together is still one of my main social activities for my family and friends. I personally do not think it's too short; I think it's perfect the way it is now. - I have a bunch of go-to foods that I feed my Sims to keep them fit and healthy, but for the last ?year?, they now overfeed them, so I have to keep a close eye on everyone eating to make sure they stop eating when they are full. (The green salad and superfood salad are two examples.) That makes it hard to do socialisation at the dinner table.
I've also noticed that while showers are quick (no issue with that), bathing in any bath, even with all upgrades installed, takes about an hour. I can understand that baths with soaks should take a bit longer, but regular baths shouldn't be that way. - babajayne4 years agoSeasoned AceMy tip for this is to use a mod to stop autonomous dish washing. They will remain seated at the table while others are still there instead of sprinting off to use the dishwasher for a single plate. Then one sim can gather all the plates at once when they’re done eating.
- LadyGray014 years agoSeasoned AceI'm also glad they nerfed it, sorry. :# My Sims were spending hours eating. I'd rather get their needs taken care of quickly and do other things. Besides my Sims socialize all the time- while reading, while watching tv, while working out, while drinking at a bar, while dancing. While on dates (which I hate).
Not socializing much while eating hasn't hampered them. I kinda feel bad for people who liked having their Sims sit together and socialize over a meal, but not enough to want it back the way it was. - InuMiroLover4 years agoSeasoned AceAlthough I never raised issue about it, I always thought sims took too long to eat. Especially when I got other things that they need to be doing, yet they've hardly progressed since their first bite of food.

Before they changed this, the player did not have to do all of that. All that was needed was the call to meal. So now the player has to jump through hoops to get everyone to the table.
I'm not one of those players who felt this needed to be changed. It was fine the way it was. At least, I was able to enjoy it while it lasted.
It's just a couple extra seconds of work. You can still just use call to meal if you gather everyone at the table first. People keep complaining how family meals just aren't possible anymore, and they are possible... just a couple extra clicks and that's it. It takes me like 5-10 extra seconds of work, and then my sims can enjoy their family meal together.- Lazzial4 years agoSeasoned AceI definitely complained, it needed a nerf. It took a ridiculously long time to eat and drink. So, yeah, I too am glad they sped up the process. 45 minutes to drink a glass of water was ludicrous.
- I did think sims used to eat too slow, but that was for a single sim households, in those I am glad it is nerfed.
But, however, needing to do all the extra things when wanting the family to dine together, is annoying, indeed because I did not used to do it before :) And if i want to take a nice picture, I have very little time as those couple of bites are gone fast.
I have now started to use restaurants more (what in my game work just fine, I do have 3 mods for DO, though) , at least in there everyone get their food at the same time, and I even have the time to order starter, main dish and the dessert , now , when they eat faster.
I have always had huge number of restaurants in my saves, and now even more. I have a small burger/fastfood joint at 20x15 lot, gas station diner, Greek tavern and lots of others up to fancy dining places.
