I personally consider Seasons a very complimentary pack and specifically in the same way Eco is. I dare say if Eco doesn't seem like it stands on it's own for you, you may just not like it and there is nothing wrong with that. No need to force it.
When I think back to when I had taken on what now seems like the monumental task of hand making everything in Newcrest (which was between the GTW and Vampires releases), I can honestly say I would have loved to have had these community aspects to play with because I was more focused on building that world rather than specifically one family. I'm probably not explaining it that well, but whatever the case if it isn't for you it just isn't.
