- I like what I've seen so far.
2 little nags though:
1. Summer Holiday is a witness at every crime scene my detective goes to.
2. Sometimes I need to transfer a patient in the medical career and there isn't a higher ranked doctor available.
My only wish is that both the hospital and detective careers were more open. I'd like my non-pregnant sims to be able to go to the hospital. I'd also like the possibility that any sim I'm playing could be arrested for misbehavior or suspicion of committing a crime. - I spent most of my day adding the new collectibles and similar stuff to my museums and library. I managed to get my Sim a Detective job but haven't had the chance to play that role yet. I will be doing that tomorrow.
I have discovered there are tons of new items.
I think it's awesome.
I haven't found any bugs yet. "ArubianaCaliente;13485715" wrote:

She and Donna Noble (my DW Sim) is a witness at every crime. I laughed my rear end off because Donna Noble in Doctor Who does put her nose in just about everywhere something is wrong on earth. lol
A few of my the townies who are friends with my Sims are the criminals, I know them, and most Sims who show up at crime scenes are my own, and most in the hospital are my own. It might have to do with if you have more of our own Sims in the game or more townies. I have a lot more of my own Sims in the game (some don't live in world) and they show up everywhere which has been great for me.- I love GTW so far - I'm not sure about one thing though. I usually play with Mods, but I removed them all from my game before the update. My female sim was abducted by aliens - which was awesome - but now whenever she tries for a baby, both her AND the husband end up pregnant. Even though, as far as I know, the husband was never abducted. I love big households, but I don't want this to happen to all my sims. Anyone else having this problem?
- I'm enjoying the expansion pack, but I do have some issues that I really don't care for. So here goes:
The retail system in the game is great, not as in depth as The Sims 2 but I've come to expect that now. However, it would be awesome if 1. Doors could be made lockable. I have customers in my bakery constantly going to the fridge in the back to get food I have stored in there. It would also help for players who would like to have a make shift "home business" as they aren't supported. That leads me to my second wish for this portion, and that would be the addition of home businesses. It would make the most sense to be patched in with this content, as I really wouldn't buy another pack just to get that functionality. However I find it very inconvenient to have to have a loading screen between my sims, whereas if they could actually live on the same lot as their business that wouldn't be a problem. 3. I really wish you guys would have given the registers functionality. The way it is, my sim will stand on the complete other side of her store while ringing up a customer, and forget about the employees I hire being of any help as all they seem to do is socialize instead of performing the tasks I've assigned them. If the register worked the sims would form a line, and not get mad and leave because my sim can't ring up 4 sims at once. Bad design choice on that one, sorry guys!
Edit: Adding onto the retail portion, everyday I see the exact same sims. They come and they buy the exact same things, now with all of the sims that do not have homes why do I constantly see the same sims over and over? This also translates to the doctor career(probably others but I haven't them all yet). The same patients come in day after day, am I supposed to belive they are the only sims that get sick even though I have them a flu shot that cured them the day before? No! I'm sure this is something that can be fixed, so please make this one a sooner rather than a layer.
Another design choice I don't care for is the new neighborhood. There is nothing new in the public space, so why is there so much? There looks to be plenty of room for additional lots, but instead we got fancy deco and community activities that we have in all of the residential neighborhoods that are in the game already. You guys couldn't have put in a food truck? Or something that actually makes use of the huge empty space around the 4 lots? I know it's not possible to add lots to the game now, but going forward if EP's don't bring more to the table in terms of what kind of world or neighborhood is added I won't buy.
The new careers are cool, but it's kind of confusing how exactly one is supposed to accomplish their goals when it takes my sim 15 sim minutes to walk from the x-ray to the hospital bed areas. I realize players might not want to spend excessive amounts of time at the new career venues, but with how long it takes to complete a few actions the shifts definitely do not seem long enough. I would be all for the option to have 12 or even 16 hour shifts for these new careers, just so that my sim can actually accomplish a good amount of stuff during his work day. When I heard about a doctor profession, I imagined we would be able to treat a good number of sims everyday, but the most I can get is 2 or 3. Simply because of how short the shifts are. Now I haven't gotten very far in the career so if the shifts increase later on then great, but so far it's not enough.
Another thing I have noticed is that no other sims at the venues do anything. I had a horde of sick sims standing in the lobby of the hospital, and the only other employee besides the doctor and receptionist did nothing but socialize! The socialization in this game is driving me crazy, as it's all sims want to do. It definitely needs to be tuned down so that they can do their tasks, if they are even supposed too.
With the mannequins, it was shown in the still life trailer that they could be placed on displays. Well for whatever reason that doesn't work without the moo cheat, and that results in sims not being able to interact with them. I would assume since this was shown in one of the promo videos that this should be possible, and if it was just crafty editing it would be something worth tweaking.
Other than that the only other thing I wish you guys would change is the way babies are handled. They are a pain, and they clearly wouldn't be if they weren't stuck to the bassinet. We can't see their needs, or anything, so they sit in a bassinet until they start crying (which went from rarely ever before the latest patch, to now they are constantly crying) and then you have to go through the same interactions each time trying to guess what is wrong with them. They don't feel like babies, and they won't until they become a part of the game instead of an object. If there are no plans to separate them, then we need the option to cheat their needs. I have only played the detective career and as a doctor. I haven't explored going shopping or running a store.
I think I like the detective career better because it's scripted directions of how to play actually make more sense to me than telling the doctor to greet three patients, and then much later to chat with three patients. That could have all been handle in one command I think. Maybe?
Where as I would prefer the doctor and nurse there to actually help the patients, because I don't have a clue what I'm supposed to be doing since directional play is telling me what I should be doing but No One is helping patients. See what I mean?
I'm being told to drink coffee, wash my hands, or gripe about work to a co worker...but nobody is seating patients, or examining which is what I would be doing ...so I just took it upon myself to see what happens if I did. Then I started to ignore the scripted play and just see what else I could do about patients.
I would have liked if the patients actually stayed in their beds once you put them there. But they still get up and go talk to other Sims. And I would have liked it better if when they come into the hospital (Like Theme Hospital) they actually sit and wait instead of all bunched up at the desk. I wanted those Sims working there to actually being doing something. If that makes sense.
It's fun, but I'm not fulfilling the scripts but fumbling around in the doctor career to see how much I can learn on my own and play my own way. Which is fine and why I like sandbox.
Detective career is much more interesting because it has prisoners locked up, I have to file reports, and go out and search for clues and I really like if I don't get finished with something, I can go back and take care of it later. That's great. It seems a little bit more sandbox to me in those regards.
I haven't played the shops or the photographer etc. But I was hoping things like ringing up customers at a register would be there even if I go to the shop to buy or to sell I wanted the 'life simulator' to be a strong concept in this game. Some people call it wasting time, I call it life simulator, because I want to see the simulation of how we actually have to do things in our lives than just take a short cut rushing through their lives. :)
I am in complete agreement with you.. Not much help in doctor career, so over welminf the nurse and soc really aren't helping much and I'm doing so much plus get the patients to their rooms. It would be nice for the nurse or reception to send them in once we " make the bed" maybe a cpl other docs to take a room or two- Fix the AI. Make coworkers/employees more useful.
- Also on my game, Mac OS x platform, I can't seem to transfer patients to other doctors as I'm supposed to. They just stand there and don't do anything.
- I haven't had much time to really delve into the GTW features because I wanted to finish up my sim's current aspiration but I just wanted to say I like all the suggestions for improving game-play. Especially the door lock feature and making the employees more useful. Hopefully EA will add a patch to address these features.
- In the Doctor career, the Dr kept leaving and if you can't diagnose people yet, it leaves you with no way to help patients. Detective career is amazing though! It makes it so much easier and more fun to make up stories.
