For Rent how much are you making

Hello everyone. How much your sims are making with their Rental lots? I have just started and I have 2 apartment starter rental building. The tax is 100 and each rent room is 60 simeleons. Stuff goes broken and has to be fixed, so do you have any tips how to make it profitable? At the moment the rentals are taking more money than giving lol. They broke stuff and then there was some kind of water problem. My sim is broke at the moment and I dont use money cheats. She has to make it work somehow. I love the challenge tough. Its realistic and not too easy.

I am waiting a little buying this pack, especially since I have heard so many people complain about problems with it - but I hope most will be fixed. In any case, my comment to this is that 60 simoleons is a very low number. How are people supposed to make a living from it? :/
  • The landlord sim I have is currently still working a job (handyman). Its been touch and go a few times but he is finally making enough to cover costs plus a little profit. I wait until I get a message on lease and then I up the rent. If I do it before the tenants get "upset".

Actually im not complaining. Sorry if I didnt make it very clear. I like playing challenges and also hard ones. My question was that do people have any tips yet how to make the rental business profitable if you are playing without cheat codes. I have liked this EP so far and I enjoy this challenge to try to make my poor sim to become succesfull rental business owner. I mean she cant have it all yet, before some work and effort etc  .

Thats good Idea to become handyman. My sim has an easel and she paints and sells her paintings. It helps to cover some of the costs that are coming from the rental apartments.
  • @Jadeleine I also love the challenge. Things became way too easy since the original & #2. Good idea on the painting. He may take up a hobbby instead.
  • My sims just received 250 profit from her apartmenst and one tenant left before the agreement eneded so, she also got 700 simeleons. Things are starting to work out for her rental business. There was ghost problem and she hired someone to take care of it, and it costed 350 simeleons. The apartmens are still only 2 stars lol..but thats the idea, she not wealthy yet. Her apartmens are basic. They are in ground floor so maybe when she has enought simeleons, she will build second floor and more apartments. Right now im enjoying this slow progress and challenge. But if you guys have any tips, I would love to hear how you play.

  • I've just now finished building the apartment units. LOL The identical twins in my game have to finish University (taking their classes from home) and then they will purchase the apartment and move into a 'home' unit. I plan on doing more of an actual rotation, by only having the active family with aging on. There is a new baby in the main household, so I wish to keep track of things there, plus Erik is still licensing music. And Jamison is doing quite well in the Acting Career. So much to keep track of so little time . . .
  • So, I finally figured out how to make my building into a rental duplex with my sim living in the other side. I have upgraded everything in both apartments, but still stuff breaks down. I am into the second day of landlord, and I am curious, when is the rent paid? So far, he has broken one rule, no loud noises after 10 PM. That is a $250 fine, when do I get that?

The rent will be paid later, wait few sim weeks and it should appear if you are making profit. You should be able to collect those fines via mailbox but for me that did not work. I didn´t find the option to send the fines so thats something i have to look into next.
