- i had no intention to play it cuz i read so many complaints here and there but after i got it and played oh my.... it took my eyes at first and when i train to my sim to play piano and violine and when they eventually playy those instruments like real pianist i almost cried. so beautiful moment... i cannot even forget that.
- At first I absolutely hated the worlds.. but after opening sims3 and realising how laggy it was.. it made me appreciate it.
- l_LilMagician_l10 years agoSeasoned AceWhen I first heard about Sims 4, I thought I would be "safe" from the temptation since I still had so much to do in Sims 3. When I eventually heard about everything that would be missing, I was sure that I was completely safe from it. But when my Sims 3 kept crashing and Sims 4 went on Gametime, I finally gave in.
I will probably never buy anything for Sims 4 at full price, but I think I'll stick with it until the end. It's hard to give up the smooth gameplay and animated Sims, even though I have more to do in Sims 3. Plus, Sims 3 is still stuttering on me (despite my new desktop) and has become utterly frustrating when I compare it to the lag-free Sims 4. - I bought the game believing it would be better than the Sims3 since each Sims game has been better than the last in all the years I've played. I was devastated by the Sims 4. It reminds me of the Sims and The Sims 2. Very limited and boring. The lack of ability to move freely through the neighborhoods and the limited living places and nothing but rabbit holes killed it for me. I have not played the game since 4 days after I got it when it came out. I miss the Sims 3 CAS. This one it limited and terrible. I can't see my self playing The Sims again. I have bought every expansion pack and game since 2000 but sadly everything must come to an end. The Sims 3 was out for 5 years. Maybe 5-6 years from now when The Sims 5 comes out I'll give it a try again. Until then...
- iriefthi10 years agoNew Scoutwhen it first came out i didn't buy it although i intended too. i played a trial version and i was so sad that it didn't have pools, ghost, toddlers,no open world,so many annoying loading screens and therefore being so limited than i have been used to since playing sims 3 and a lot of expansions. i saw reviews and were sooo bad and i gave up on it and that made me sad :) but some time around April i was curious to search and see if something changed and i saw that pools and ghosts were patched in and we were given a christmas pack for free and that was very very positive, get to work was announced too and i liked the idea of retail stores (although i expected them to be better that they are now,but it is ok) and gave it a try and bought it! i like it now better, i have outdoor retreat and i am planning to buy spa day and some stuff packs. i am a happy simmer now but i will be an extremely happy simmer if seasons-farm life comes in and also toddlers and family game play!!! :)
- thatsme_ever10 years agoSeasoned AceI think what mostly made me like this game was its performance on my laptop. The Sims 3 was so slow and laggy on my laptop and my CC was so disorganized, that I couldn't delete almost anything and I think that's what made everything worse.

Did the game slowly grow on you, slowly start to appeal to you? Was a feature added that you've wanted? I'm just beingnoseycurious and would love to hear why people transitioned. Thanks!
Please keep the discussion friendly.
Maybe. But I'm not the type of player that plays a game because it 'runs'. I've got all kinds of games without bugs and they run and smooth etc.
TS4 isn't that smooth, contrary to popular reports. It depends on how much RAM a person has installed and how large their save files are and their video card and processors and I think a lot of people are playing in window mode which reduces performance problems for most games, if you can set one to window mode. And it only has one EP, wait until it has eleven. Which I doubt it gets eleven EPs.
I think my imagination saved this game instead of this game influencing me. lol I would be disappointed if they don't build some of the normal, traditional EPs. However, I don't think they will so..just hanging around waiting on them.
It takes a lot of imagination for me to play this game when the game is actually built to keep people busy all day with skilling, achievements for player, instead of Sim and a bucket to do list with aspiration and careers. I'm not going to play that...so, I find the game lacking if people have so much time on their hands while playing if they don't play the very rigid, scripted play. So...a person has to have a great deal of imagination to play (not stage) their game if it lacks what the other's had.
Just an example and a very simple one. Imagine a player is not going to do all the required gameplay, and just get together with some Sims and go fishing, together. This game ignored, forgot, or just didn't want to, create code to make Sims fish together, or the 'engine' is so complicated it was too hard and too expensive for the base game. Then if that is what the player wanted to do since they don't play the scripted list, what would they do instead?
See, when you buy a game, it's more than it 'runs' and it's a great new vision, when it leaves out half the people who can't find their gameplay in it. These 'Sims' are fine, I guess, as far as endearing to the player, but they should be making the emotions more meaningful with their memories, and or more a reason to manipulate their emotions to save their lives, but even that isn't a problem in this game, there's no suspense. But I like The Sims, and I was happy to get some things returned to the game but looking for bigger improvements to it rather than 'stuff' but a more intricate game system that makes it more interesting and simulates life so I don't have to keep imagining it.- ck21310 years agoLegendI mainly bought the game because of curiosity and having to try it for myself.
I like it because of the new sims and build mode, but there is a lot that I don't like, and I won't get into that.
I am sticking with it because of patch additions, the EPs, and the game packs. I still need toddlers and pre-teens. My cut off point is the third EP, if we don't have them by then. I am currently enjoying what Spa Day adds, and although I feel the retail portion of Get To Work is weak, I am having fun with my sim run a clothing boutique.
I don't love it, but I kind of like it. - This is a good thread because I know there are allot of people who started out not liking the game at all but now love it.
To give you some background I started playing the sims in 2001 and have got every expansion and EP from sims 1-4 to date. I really loved sims 1 and 2 but i didn't really have to much love for 3 until the third expansion was released.
When the lack of base game content was announced I was FUMING. Like, rant for hours online and mope to my sister level of angry. Whilst I'm not a family player the exclusion of toddlers got to me. I couldn't understand the thought progress behind excluding them. Little by little my interest in the game came back. With videos showing how CAS and the new build/buy mode worked I felt like I could justify at least giving the game a try. Emotions started to hook me in and I was pretty excited by the time we got the CAS demo. I spent hours making sims, experimenting and being excited.
I ended up paying full price for the game on release day, and whilst I did enjoy the game I started hitting walls with the lack of things to do. I pretty much stopped playing until Outdoor retreat was released, I initially wasn't at all impressed, I wasn't impressed by luxury party stuff either. I thought the game was doomed. My mood was at an all time low until the announce of Get To Work. Suddenly I was hooked again. I spent hours glued to my screen watching the release videos and getting excited about the new aspects of the game.
Buy the time Get To Work was released I had begun to log a butt tone of hours in the game. I'd gotten back into legacies and challenges. My disappointment in the lack of toddlers was a distant memory as new Sp's, GP's and patches got released. My obsession truly got re-booted with the addition of Spa Day. The pack was so well though out and so beautiful I knew there was great things to come for the game. I now love luxury party stuff and outdoor retreat for the great items and clothing they add to the game. Outdoor retreat has been shown more love in the last 3 months than it ever did when it was released!
As of now my excitement is at an all time high for get together. I finally understand that they are trying to make the game different to past versions. They don't want to make the same expansions and packs again and again. I feel like they want to make it new and exciting, like they want to make use of the new system the game is built on. The additions of emotions has been a huge win for me, and I can tell the group aspect of GT is going to be just as unique. I think because of the change in direction that 4 has taken many people have found it hard to find a reason to like the game. But for me this new direction is a reason to love the game. - When the game was first announced i fell in love with how the game looked. Visually it's amazing, and the info that was released way back then sounded great.
What turned me off from the game was that they back pedaled on confirmed things, and downgraded areas of the game that I enjoyed. I still bought it because of the promise of intelligent sims + behavior, and the team's original stance on delivering what was missing from the game (pools, ghosts, toddlers, etc). The game didn't live up to the hype, and really didn't reflect the game the developers talked about. Now since launch they have done some good things, they've added some of the missing elements, and some of the stuff they've released is well thought out and implemented. However, the team has made decisions that I am not fond of. They have yet to add toddlers, which were originally confirmed to be in the game and information about their exclusion was withheld for nearly a year (while accepting preorders), the team has yet to combat tasks such as world building, or world editing. Culling has yet to be addressed (increasing the pop cap is not addressing the problem).
Overall the game was shallow, and empty. Some players feel it shipped with an acceptable amount of content, and that's totally fine, but for $80 I expect a truly entertaining game that's not dependent on content patches, or DLC to entertain me. For the 4th installment I expected a higher level of simulation, of complexity, of fun. I don't feel I got any of that, and I don't see anything that's coming out as a fix for that. The Sims is the only premium title coming out of Maxis, and it does not contain enough to warrant AAA game status.
