How Can Cars Function In Sims 4?

I always kinda thought that cars in TS4 would just work like bikes, as in you would drive to the edge of the neighborhood and get to a loading screen. I pretty certain they're gonna add them at some point, maybe in a pack, maybe they patch them in, maybe both (as in releasing a pack about cars, but adding a few basic ones into the base game). After they added the whole "transportation" category in build mode I am pretty sure cars will come back at some point. I hope that since we don't have an open world, they atleast add an actual animation for sims to get into the car like it was in TS2.

I’ve never understood the desire for cars in TS4 because we can’t go anywhere in them. But I wasn’t thinking about the hobby aspect of cars. That would actually be pretty cool. Teenage boys working on cars, fathers & sons working on cars together. A skill fathers could teach their kids. I don’t expect it to happen though.

Yes, but please let girls work on cars as well :D

In ts2 I found them quite enjoyable even though they led to a loading screen. I was quite disappointed when ts3 came along and they had cut all the animations- no driving on and off the driveway, no opening the door and getting in and out. No seeing the car bounce a little on the suspension as your sim sat down.

I wouldn't be gutted if we never got cars in TS4 and I wouldn't be particularly excited if they announced we were getting them.

But if they do bring us cars, I hope they do some decent animations like in ts2. And we'd really need to be able to fix cars up on the driveway-and not just one type of car but many. And be able to run a car sales dealership.

Motorbikes would be cool too.

Oh, and please, no building a relationship with your car. That was just so ridiculous to see your darn car in your relationship panel with your wife and kids and mates.

That's exactly what I want cars in TS4 to be like. It would be so lazy to cut on animations like in TS3, especially since it's just driving to the edge of the neighborhood and into a loading screen.

I actually think it's funny when the sims built relationships with their cars, but maybe it should be limited to a specific trait. In case a car-themed pack ever comes out, they could include a "car enthusiast" trait which would allow sims to build relationships with their cars.

I would have honestly just bought a stuff pack full of decorative cars before they dropped the debug ones. Cars and garages add a ton of personality to a build, and frankly it makes no sense to not have a garage/car feature, when building houses is such a huge element of the game.

Cars pretty much served as a loading screen between transporting your sim around the map in 3, so the lack of open world doesn’t bother me in terms of adding cars in 4.. Cars would prob just be woohoo spots/death traps knowing TS4 Lol

Be interesting if they gave us a Create-a-car type customisation though?

Problem with this is how fundamentally different travelling is in The Sims 2 vs 4. in The Sims 2, without cars, you had two options: wait for a taxi or walk your pretty little butt down to a community lot - both of which took time. Cars were slightly more convenient, or at least faster than waiting for a taxi. Though I'd admittedly have to time walking vs using a car, because I doubt it fairs over by that much.

In The Sims 4 on the other hand, you press M and you travel anywhere in an instant - Cars don't have utility, so they'd essentially exist for aesthetics.

This is the kind of thing I'm down for. Even if cars lack utility in The SIms 4, which they absolutely do, a lot of people adored the car fixer upper object from The Sims 2, as I came to learn via YouTube and the forums, and mechanic is a legit job a lot of people have IRL, so it fits fine into the game.

I am also on the side of finding relationships built with cars very cute and endearing and funny. I always found it funny that premade DeAndre Wolfe's best friend was his car LOL.

Well, I do want cars but I do miss the fact that you can just travel with your Sim wherever they go like how they did in Sims 3. That's the only version of the cars I'd want. I tried the bikes and it was annoying to me anyways. The jetski and stuff seemed to be ok going on the water all around but who knows how'd they include the cars. I just kind of wish the loading screen wasn't there like the Sims 3. That's my only complaint for Sims 4 now.

Driving would not be the gameplay part that you would add with cars, you could add things like fuel economy, conditions, customization, upgrades, car mechanic skills and fixing and selling cars for a profit. And then you could make them better than fast travel by adding bonuses like filling needs like fun, social, bladder or hunger for everyone traveling in the car by adding options to stop at a rest stop, listen to music or talk with your friends that you travel with.

There are plenty of things you could do with cars still, but for some reason the attitude recently is that we are supposed to be happy with what we are getting, to the point that things like ladders or bunk beds are too much to ask.

As a "life simulator" it makes no sense to skip cars.

We have drones, bikes, bots, but no cars.

If nothing else it's a goal for our Sims, say, to be able to buy a fancy sports car once they become an Adult, and another place to sink all the money that currently piles up with nowhere to go. The same reason why people want "freed babies" is the same reason I want cars: realism.
