How do I download from the Gallery into my game?

There are two download icons in the Gallery. One allows you to download directly to a lot without saving to your library. The other saves to your library, and you use it from there. If you’re saving to your library, it should show up in your My Library tab. If it’s not, something is wrong. If the names aren’t automatically changing, you can manually change them by going into the cheat console and typing cas.fulleditmode. This opens up all of the locked CAS areas. Take the household into CAS and change the surnames to whatever you want.

@cyncie, Never Mind. I think it's my computer that is the problem. That, and I've completely forgotten how to download files like lots and sims and rooms and put them in the right files for my game, for them to show up properly IN the game *Sighs at self* But thank you so much for your help! I still dont see a second option to save the lot to "My Library", though? Ah well. I DO appreciate your helpful response, thank you again!

If memory serves (and I'm not in my game at the moment) there is a down arrow on screen right when you click on a lot you want. If you select that one, it goes to your My Library. The other arrow is on screen left, I do believe to place it on a lot. An easy way to do this is to enter the lot you wish to place a build upon, and then go into the Gallery. Or you should be able to place lots while in map view.

@Serendipity38 In live or build mode you should see a lightbulb icon in the upper right hand corner. That takes you to your library, which is the far right tab, and the gallery which is the far left tab. When you select something from the gallery to download, there is a down arrow in the right lower corner that allows you to place the lot, household or room directly into your game. This will place them, but not save them to your library. To do that, select the down arrow in the left lower corner. They are then saved to your library. You can then download them to your game at any time by selecting them, then selecting the down arrow at the right lower corner.

You could try the F4 keyboard shortcut to get to the gallery or you can go from the main menu. Here's how it looks from the Main Menu and Build.

Either way, you wind up here. The Gallery is circled in red. My Library in black. Select Gallery.

Let's say I like Cordelia's Cottage. I can click the little down arrow at the bottom of the image to add it to my library. Or I can select it and look at the details while in the gallery. When in the item description on the Gallery there will be two down icons. One to save, which is circled in red and grayed out here because it's already saved, and the other to place. If you place the lot directly from the gallery it will not be saved to your library.



At any rate, if I've saved it to the Library, I just select the library tab and there it is.



I load my game, then find a lot to build on. Or, if I accessed it while on an empty lot in build, I select the lightbulb icon to go to the gallery, then select My Library. Select the lot. Select Place Lot.

Hey, that's okay. I was going to ask if you had access on but left it out. Glad you got in.

They keep updating the UI to make it easier for new players but obviously it's not so clear. I think it would be less confusing if they stopped changing it so much. There's helpful blog post and YT videos explaining how to navigate the game UI for things like finding the gallery but it doesn't hold up if things are changed.

You have to go into build mode, as @cyncie says.
