How do you build a house with columns? I've been trying to build a house in the sims 4 to resemble the houses in Willow Creek in the bargain bend lot. Because every time I try and look up a house for that lot in the gallery, they are always expensive, like over 20k. I'm trying to look or build a house for under 20k so that starter sims can live in it. I've tried to look up house building tutorials on YouTube but they're always talking so fast and I can't follow whats going on in the video because they are building fast to! Any ideas would be appreciated!

Have you tried searching the gallery for the word or hashtag "starter". I find a lot that are affordable for sims. They might not match the style you are looking for though. If you really want to build, I mean, youtube taught me a lot but what really taught me, was deconstructing houses. Use the Maxis homes in game already or download one. Start with taking the roof off, or bits of roof. Pull off columns. Highlight rooms and see the shapes. I learned more deconstructing than any tutorial. You really get to see how it all fits together (at your own speed), and it doesn't matter if you can't put it all back right away either. ;)

Youtube has the option to slow down video playback speed in the settings. Also you could try downloading some of the more expensive houses on the gallery and place them unfurnished or with very little furniture. Too many have hashtags like 'cute' too. I just use the nocc, nomods and nomoo ones myself.

I think the gallery is a cesspool but credit where credit is due, if you filter by lot you have additional filters like price range, size or lot type.

@happyopi @Simburian I've just gone into my game to check, and wow. This many years and I've NEVER seen that before. I swear I've looked for it too. Once was literally just the other day when I was trying to find community spaces... Awesome then and thanks!

Oh I've wished for this so much. I was also finding myself wishing for a way to sort the gallery by lot types. You can sort by expansions and packs but I can't search "restaurant" or "gym"? I think I miss a lot of good ones because not everyone hashtags either so a search for #museum might not bring up all the options.

Oh hey! Do you know if there's a way to turn off that lot trait effect? Its like a stuff keeps coming from my sims head and it happens every time I'm in a house with lot traits!

Other than remove the trait I have no idea. Might be something in the settings, as I wasn't having them in my game but they appeared after a patch. Now my sims look like they're fizzing. :joy:

If you're not opposed to using mods, there is one that hides the visual effects. I've used it for years and it works great.
