How do you play with rich sims??

I play with two rich families.

Had re-deccorated some of their homes, since we got the fancy furniture and the like last year through Get Famous. So, definitely spent some time advancing her career because the bills were very high and she is the only working sim in the household. Tend to throw big fancy parties that only sims with a higher status and/or money are allowed to come to. Always have nosy paparazzi hanging around waiting to get photo to which she'd tend to get to get in fights with often as she's too much of a tight wad to pay them off and just developed and over all bad reputation which fits her well.

Affair in another household with the maid that drops by everyday, which is pretty risky due to his trophy stay at home wife that doesnt't work and just takaes care of the kids at home. if she isn't going out to the nightclub and partying it up.

I have them socialise, work on skills, go on holiday, pursue romances and buy lots of expensive items to eat up some of that money. It can be tricky, sure, but it helps if you have a goal for each sim in the household. Sometimes it's good to focus on one sim at a time.

When I'm bored with my Sims I get my married couples to have a baby or two. Later, I make some of my family members hybrids like: FakeAlien/Vampire/Mermaid.

I'm currently playing a rich family. My founder sim didn't start off rich. She earned her money then met another fellow celebrity who is incredibly rich. They will marry and have children.

You could have the children meet friends who are rebels and have the kids go off the rails or marry sims that dont meet the parents expectations.

When I like a family I am too nice so my founder and her husband wont care who they marry but they have celebrity status so the kids might have bad reputations where the parents have good.

I'm currently playing with a rich family. The money is kinda a side-effect (though I do make an effort to keep it up. They do have bills to pay and I still have plans for the property) as I'm basically trying to earn as many unlocks as possible within 10 generations. So that means I have to play through many of the professions twice... I just happened to start with some of the higher earners. :) At the moment, Generation 3 is in school.

First off, I never have them do nothing. Humans aren't meant to do nothing. My Cantrell family made their wealth from hard work. The Patriarch is a Shipping Magnate. So, he tends to business. His wife is an Artiste, so she paints and sells her work. Their second child and son is a Global Superstar devoted to his Music. So, he's always 'working'. Their eldest child and son joined the military. Their third child and son is a Surgeon. Their daughter married a Vulcan prince and is an Archaeologist of some renown herself, and is often authenticating artifacts, when not running after their five children. The youngest child and son is still a teen. He works on his homework.

In my Ancestral game save, both families were well-to-do, but they were planters for the most part. One ran an Inn, a Trading Post, Mills, wherein he was tapped to collect the taxes, and he had a Tavern. The other one had quite a complex surrounded by a stockade. Inside, he had a Trading Post, a distillery, a Black Smith Shoppe and he grew money crops; wheat; corn; cotton and rice. Yes, he was one of the very few who grew rice in the Shenandoah Valley in the 1700s. So, I send him to 'work'. Household A, the Dad is a programmer, besides fussing with his plants in the green house. Household B I believe is in the Business career track. The Moms don't work outside of the home, tending to the children, the laundry and the gardens when needed. It was a different world back then.

Basically all of this explanation to say, I make them live like normal Sims. They just have plenty of money to either repair or buy new, whatever they fancy. The houses are nicely appointed. And I like for my Sims to interact with each other and be a family. I'm still amused that no matter how many times I've restarted this game save, the parents follow their eldest children around. Boy from Household A married girl from Household B. They are teens and currently dating, if you will. He took her to the Discotheque in Windenburg because they both love to dance. Who shows up? First her father followed quickly by her mother. LOL This was autonomous!

First off, I prefer playing poor or at least smaller homes.

In a community there needs to be both some high and low though, so I have a handful rich families, too. Recently I even built a castle for a Duke and Duchess and their 3 kids. I loved the project, including a huge garden, and I might post about them on my blog later.

I don't play all my rich households from day to day, but anyway they have different goals. I think it's important to set what kind of rich family they are,then search for activities in the game that fits that bill. One family invest, they run a restaurant and a gallery, + they own stocks that I tend (adjusting value etc). Another based wealth on science, they are less occupied with how big their house is etc (although it s HUGE). The 3rd version is the noble families - I've got 2 of them. They have a few traditions and rituals, ie a certain ceremony taking place at a certain time, in my case when the Baron takes over the Duke title, there will be a ceremony.

Some rich families give an annual party, I pretend other high-society people will be eager to be on that guest list. So these families socializes a bit. They also try to have kids married, but I don't force anything. Just seeing it as a benefit to both families and making it easier to secure a high financial standard including whatever power they got.

Two of my rich families have live-in servants, I find suitable locals to get those jobs, normally until they start their own family.

All have a butler - some also have a maid, if needed.

All couples/heads are portrayed, so my game also have a top skilled painter at all times, doing this job. Photos make nicer memories, but I don't think they look as high class as a big painting...

All pay lots of focus on child raising, manners, responsibility and all that. To secure the family wealth and name, they need good heirs, and also those who will move out eventually, need to be very well mannered. A cool challenge I never paid attention to before, but that is quite cool in richer families. A child will normally grow up more skilled in a wealthy family, but of course there are rebels, too!

The Duchess arranges flowers for decorating certain tables in the castle. They need to be replaced after a while. It keeps her busy a few hours every day, and flowers is a nice gift when she visits other houses.

I need to find good ways to make enough money to pay those sky high bills though. Especially for the castle, the Duke isn't really having a regular job (I pretend he used to be in Military), and bills are §20.000+ every week(?)! I still need to fine tune the household a bit.

I play them like every other sim - they get jobs, study, do things around the house, etc. Though they probably do have all the services and better objects/more of them. Sometimes a sim stands out for something outside the norm, but not always.

I started a family with a fancy house and a decent amount of money, but a single parent starting at the beginning of his career. The teenage daughter is worried about losing the house due to taxes, so she is making extra money by selling her graphic art to collectors and selling seed packets from the overzealous gnomes. :smile:

-Tony Stark and Barbie, now elders, live in luxury, but they still work. Tony in the science career and Barbie selling paintings in her Art Gallery. Not sure if Tony will retire....? Maybe just slow down.

-Dr. Ken and Astronaut Barbie are living large as well. Their son and wife (daughter of the Stark’s) and grandkids lives with them. Life was tough when the grandkids were toddlers, but they all just go about their business. Work and family life.

-the Landgraabs, I enjoy this household. Nancy with her club of criminals, including Malcolm, hacking away in the basement of her restaurant. No one else in the family knows about it. She also visits her daughter who lives at the Landgraab Apartment. Nancy and Eliza are besties so they hang out at least once or twice a week. I keep them busy.
