How to make Sims less sad?

My Sim is literally getting calls every couple of days to say someone she hardly knows has died. Right after she gets over one death, someone else dies. I'm going crazy trying to get her mood up! The Sims.remove_all_buffs cheat isn't working either which is a bummer. Any tips for making Sims less sad?

  • If you're not averse to mods, you could use the UI Cheats Extension mod which allows you to delete singular buffs, among other useful things.
  • Journal works pretty good. There is also calling the sadness helpline, crying in a bed or closet, watering plants with tears - sure there are some others too. Or, you can try to overcome the sad moodlet with another - ponder moves on a chessboard to try to get focused, take brisk showers to try to get energized or thoughtful showers to get inspired (the lump of clay works better for this though), watch comedy to try to get playful, etc.

Not totally sure any of this will work with the number of death calls regardless of relationship I keep reading about - I play with aging off so do not have this nightmare.

I have used the journal many times with teens though when they get those really strong mood swings and it always helps. Good luck!
  • If my Sims is very sad, I get my Sims to donate some artifacts to the museum... (I think it is from the curator aspiration trait). He/she will be happy for 24 hours... or else, surround them with a good environments with decorations..

Or donate to charity via PC :)
  • I got rid of elder sims who arent a part of my sims life while in the manage households area. I don't really want them as ghosts, and I don't want the call for a stranger. Its a bit of extra work, but it keeps them from experiencing too many unneeded calls.

But I like using the journal for sadness. Teens can jog to clear the mind too which I love. It may be something sims with parents hood traits can do too like Emotionally stable ones.
  • I'm fighting this in one of my households, too. They are filthy rich and have one of those rock climbing machines in their back yard. Problem is with all of the rain, and then the snow, starting off with a blizzard over Winterfest, they lost their butler. A new guy comes to the lot and he is drawn like a mosquito to light to the broken sparks-flying deathtrap. And yes, he also died. Now, they have two tombstones out back. This seems to trouble the teens and their mother more than it does their dad. I went ahead and sent the only daughter out back to release their spirits. She's very strongly clairvoyant, this one, and she knew something needed to be done after a couple of nights of being haunted and fighting the constant plumbing breakage. They now have a third guy taking over. I had the eldest teen call him over and direct him to serve a meal to keep him from the same Fate as the other two. But, alas, the girl is still mourning the loss of two good Sims.

Her second eldest brother tried to console her, thinking she was upset because he beat her in the Karaoke Contest. The redhaired boy next to them is the eldest in the family.

  • If you're not opposed to using mods, the deathofsimreactiontweak mod over at www.deichschafblog.de/s4/sonstige-mods/ works really, really well. This is the way they should have implemented it in game. Sims will still get a call but if they are a mere acquaintance, the Sad moodlet only lasts a short time. I think it is something like 6 hours for friends, one hour for acquaintances, etc.
