I do this but my sim is just too darn happy after having a baby and eating "exellent food" to be angry. XD

That's how it should work. Sadly it doesn't work. The other emotions are to strong and always end up dominating so sims can't do what they need for the requirement. I've run into this issue a few times and found no work around. It's quite frustrating.
Oh no, that is annoying! The happy emotions are so strong aren't they :/ My sim recently had his dad die and at the same time was very angry to have a new sibling - but the pictures on the wall were nice so he was overall very happy!! :s
I know MCCC has a moodlet and buff cheat, if you dont mind mods. I havent used that option yet, but I'm assuming that if you click on it then you can remove the moodlets, and be neutral long enough to research angry? Sorry not to be more helpful - I would have tried it out for you but my game just crashed taking photos :(
