Indecision Has Me In Its Grip . . .

. . . I plan on purchasing GF on release day. In the meantime, I've been playing my ancestral game save and leaving my other one (where my potential famous Sims reside) alone. Now, I'm wondering if I should play them for a time to get them more fully ready. I realize there are questions left unanswered since none of us has had the pleasure of exploring it, yet --- except those who attended the Sim Camp, perhaps. I am assuming that a Sim must be a YA in order to seek fame? I know it's been stated by the EA team, that a child of the famous will 'inherit' a certain percentage of fame just being the famous Sims' child, but I also recall in Sims3, that a Teen Sim couldn't seek the Singer career. I suspect and assume (and I hope by doing so I'm not making a donkey out of myself) that this will hold true in Get Famous.

So, my dilemma: Should I play that game save and get my potential singer/actor to a YA or leave it and see what's what once the game releases? I need help making this decision. Please, and thank you, in advance. :)

And I do wish I knew how to setup a proper poll. :open_mouth:

IIRC, children do inherit fame, but I'm not sure if they're able to build on it by doing activities. And the actor career is full-time, so it's off-limits to teens too.

I recommend playing a bit to get your sim to the YA stage. It'll help pass the time while waiting for GF, and you'll be ready to try out the EP once it drops.
  • You could always play until you would feel satisfied with aging them up and then leave it alone. That way if teens have options to explore in GF, you won't regret aging them up, but if they don't, you can immediately age them up when the pack is released.

There's the new Drama Club afterschool activity -- maybe it would help prepare teens for the acting career?

I've got my current family that I plan to save to my library and start in a new save. Dad reached the top of the Athlete career but he's now working to be an esports player, Mom was a writer but is now a stay at home mom. (I want her to raise one more child, maybe adopt a baby.) I'm working on maxing out my eldest son's Piano skill so he can work on Guitar when he hits teen (I want to put him in the Entertainer career as a musician just to see how it works with the new features like Open Mic nights). I wanted to move him to San Myshuno but his mom needs for him to gain three personality traits for her Super Parent aspiration so he'll have to remain at home; I could have him write songs but not license them until he moves out as a YA.
  • I would do a double even more, if you want, "Save as" of all previous saves before installing the new EP and experiment with one of them after Get Famous downloads. Then you'll get some useful input to avoid doing something that might ruin your favourite as yet unused one. Nobody knows the effect this Expansion will have on previous Saves.

Maybe move it out of game until you are happy.

Oh, that's a good point. My guess is it helps build up the acting skill for teens.

I'm still not sure if the fame-inducing activities that adults can do will also bring fame to younger sims. I guess we'll just see.

I play on Long and age up my Sims when I'm ready to do so. I just like to leave a game day or two between them to help set birth order.

These are all really good points to consider. I didn't think about the Drama Club. I suppose, if I leave him a teen, he can play around with the mic and perhaps get a head-start on his fame? At any rate, I only have to age up his older brother, wait for a couple of Sims days, or even one Sim day, before I age him up. In the interim, I could work on his mother's fame. In the backstory, she's already an Intergalactic Artist of Renown. The Sim paints like there's no tomorrow. If you've got a "Louise", you've got something akin to a Monet or a Renoir.

Thank you to All of you for your input, but please, keep posting!

I already do a "Save As". I've also backed up my entire Sims4 Folder. I may go so far as to upload this family, as they are, into My Library, so I can preserve their skill status, and then plop them into a brand new game save. :)
