Inviting sims over to celebrate holidays

I'm not sure if this is a real issue or if I'm just dumb. I was trying to celebrate winterfest and I wanted to invite over the family of my sim. I was afraid that creating a dinner party would overlap the holiday's traditions so I just invited his sisters to hang out in the lot. The problem is that they wouldn't stay long enough to properly celebrate winterfest so I had to keep inviting them over the phone. If I make a dinner party will it run more smoothly? Will the winterfest traditions still be fulfilled? Also the Xmas tree caught on fire lol what a disastrous winterfest.
  • I had a dinner party during New Year's Eve. It went fine, the only thing is that you have to have the party without goals. It wont even let you make an event with goals during a holiday.

I stick them all in a club so they can't leave until I end the gathering. They will still do club activities during the holiday so I pick whichever ones seem most appropriate.
  • I used dinner party for harvest fest and it worked fine. The normal goals are gone and you just have a timer like for dance parties. The only issue was not everyone sat and ate at the same time when I called them to meal. I did already have a pie and a salad on the table though and some helped themselves to that before she was done cooking the meal. Next time I’ll have all the meals cooked and on a the table then start the dinner party.
  • Thanks for the tips guys. I will definitely try them in the next holiday.
  • I held a dinner party for Christmas and I thought it worked out much better than the "invite to hang out at current lot" option. Only one problem though - it did not fulfill the "invite guests" tradition. So, if you are planning to do it that way, then don't make "invite guests" one of your traditions for that holiday.

It's possible to do both. Invite the guests over to fulfill the tradition before the party begins.

I never thought of that - thank you!
  • I like the club idea @Simpatsyann ! I don’t use clubs very often, do you know if members will stay over night? Could I use this to have family members stay for a few days over the holidays?

Really I couldn't have a party at all maybe because I had invite guest as a holiday tradition for my Halloween party let's see how Thanksgiving goes.

They will stay pretty much indefinitely, although I don't think I've ever had a club gathering running for multiple days. Also I believe it auto-ends if you leave the lot (I'd have to doublecheck to be sure).
