Is it true the latest patch broke Sims 4? Is it unplayable?

I've just read that Maxis doesn't plan to patch the Sims 4 this month, because they don't plan to release any new content (patches can't just fix problems anymore I guess) I haven't actually fired ...

The only issue I have had is the simulation lag, which has been around forever.

Also, patching bugs is not as simple as clicking your fingers. Fixing one bug may create another four.
