Is there a way to delete gravestones?

I know another simmer posted they had tombstone in their inventory and was able to sell them. But I haven't had any sims die so i cannot verify that at all. But i thought i saw a Guru post that we could not delete the tombstones. As some simmer suggested making a graveyard with them. Of course i can't see the point if the ghosts are gone.

I'm not 100% certain on this as I haven't had opportunity to test it yet myself. But I believe the answer to your question is: sometimes.

If my understanding is correct, you can 'sell' the urn/tombstone to get rid of it, but it's like any other object -- to do so, you must -own- it. Which is to say, it has to belong to your household. So if Sim who died (believe it would be linked via them) has others in his/her household, one of them may be able to pick it up (into personal inventory), move it around and sell it. But if you don't have any other household members, you can't. (You could have someone befriend the ghost and get them move in, becoming playable, at which point the ghost joins their household, and either they or the ghost should be able to sell it, but that's kind of a long process.)

I had a sim die on my front porch . I released his spirit ( he never showed up anyway) and I tried to delete the tombstone with no luck. I want it gone because my sim keeps getting sad mourning a sim he didn't even know! I finally just put the tombstone in the family inventory. Still not abLe to sell it or delete it. Please fix this EA!

GUYS GUYS I DID IT!
Basically, I have generations and generations of sims in my house and on my lot. I used to have a sort of memorial table with flowers and pictures around it with the urns on it, but then more sims kept dying and frankly I ran out of room. And then random sims also died in random spots around my house. But now, I have a sim who is the girlfriend of a sim moved into the house, she didnt even know any of the sims yet she is the only one who is ALWAYS i repeat ALWAYS sad or very sad from mourning them. So, I released the spirits to the netherworld. And then if you click on the urn after doing that you should get the option to destroy it like I did, voila! :p :)

Thanks, I'll keep looking, I wouldn't mind so much if there were still ghosts from them but the game culled them and now I'm stuck with useless tombstones!

I think this is how it's supposed to be, but I have blank (game culled the ghost sims) tombstones from my sims family and no destroy when I click on them (supposed to be there according to other sources) so I think I'm bugged. As for the dude that died in the park, he was a townie and I don't know if he had any family, its a pain he wasn't culled but my ghosts were, he died when gen 2 were getting married and they're both dead now and all culled aside from the mum. Thanks for your help though, I just wish the game was behaving itself (my first two games were abandoned because of major bugs and this family gas had the stuck in work bug a few times but I've managed to fix it.

I had the same problem, but I solved it.
Step 1. Make a new Sim
Step 2. Make sure that Sim moves to the lot where the grave is unless its on a public lot, then just pick up the grave when visiting the lot.
Step 3. Delete the Sim you created and the graves are gone.

This worked on a household lot, and I havent tried it on any public lot.

As @Summerjase stated you can destroy the tombstone! I attempted to sell it in build mode - this didn’t work. I also was unable to sell it after adding it to my sim’s inventory. Only thing that worked was releasing their spirit into the netherworld. Then I was able to destroy the tombstone where it finally dispearred!

When I had two of my sims move out, they ended up bringing their grandparents' stones with them in the family inventory, so that's where they'll stay. Lol. Now the deceased couple have two great-grandsons!! Each of their grandsons are married. All four- now six- live in one house.
