- As a museum, no. If you use it for another venue to do other things, yes. But on it's on, no. You can get inspired at home and that is the only moodlet it gives when visiting one. So, filling that one whim to view art at a museum is not worth the loading screen.
- BTW my other thread about Magnolia Promenade got moved to the Get To Work forum in case anyone was still interested in it. It died as soon as it was moved :(
- I love the idea of using a museum as a collection storer, I'm definitely going to do that.
- bshag4lv10 years agoSeasoned AceHi! I bulldozed all the museums and libraries and built a cultural center in Newcrest on the biggest lot. It has museum, library, large park with easels, chess sets, observatories and of course the obligatory children's park. I have a small area with an arch if getting married strikes anyone visiting, fountain and wishing well will be added from GT. This frees up the other lots for the dining areas.
- Yeah I am definitely going to make a proper museum somewhere now that I know about the idea of gifting our collections to the town. I do have a downloaded lot that matches windenburg style that someone has made into a wedding venue but marked the lot as museum.
- I found great game play value for them...
Bulldoze and put up residential real estate and restaurants - Libraries are so useless to me but I do use and have some current plans for Museums. They're good place to park "Sciencey" things that your Sims can't afford but still want to use. My museum has a fully upgraded Rocket ship so Sims can travel to Sixam whenever they want. High end microscopes, computers, etc. At some point I will make a Collector family with the goal of completing every collection. Once done, I'll turn their home into a Museum.

Other options include:
Natural History/Science Museum - Displays to include skeletons (human/cowplant), animal/nature dioramas, mineral and fossil collectibles, fish (live/mounted), frogs and insects along with every type of SimEarth plant in a greenhouse or botanical garden with a lab (kid chemistry sets, microscopes, analysers & any future science objects that anyone can use).
Space Centre - Displays space prints, model rockets, debug UFO, space rocks, geodes, alien collectables (live/dead), alien plants. With observatory(s) on the roof and rocket(s)/portal for public use. Could also add the spaceship jungle gym. You could combine with the above too.
Historical/Antique Museum - More museum than the gallery types in game. Add any old looking objects. Make a folly or overgrown ruins (maybe add the wishing well?) in the grounds with easels nearby for great paintings. Maybe make a ghost club that hangs out haunting the old things.
Local Celebrities - If you have any sims in that save die "famous" then add something of theirs to the museum as an exhibit (E.G. an opensided mock-up of a famous writer's study or the stage where your "rockstar" performed their last time). It's a nice reminder of past sims, and if the objects are accessible it adds things for sims to do when visiting.
I really wish we could customise the von Haunt signs to explain about each exhibit. Would be great for sharing on the gallery.
These are great ideas!
*steals them all*
I need to build a science/space museum in Oasis Springs now! - I like the museum in Willow Creek, it has a very nice look to it so I like having my sims go on dates there. I think it's very romantic. I've also had a wedding there. If you're doing the painter aspiration, you need at least one art gallery to complete an objective (unless you can cheat your way into the next level)
