- Did they really acknowledge it in any of the Sims games?
- Sims 2:
Grandma's Comfort Soup
With The Sims 2: FreeTime installed, Sims with Family as their primary or secondary aspiration can achieve the aspiration benefit Grandma's Comfort Soup, which allows them to cook a special soup regardless of their cooking skill. When eaten, this soup will cure any disease a Sim has. It is recommended to have at least one Family Sim in the household just in case any Sim has caught any illness. If The Sims 2: Open For Business is also installed, Grandma's Comfort Soup can be added to the menu in an owned restaurant, so they can cure any customers that happen to be ill. This can be done even if the chef does not have the associated aspiration benefit.
Sims 4:
Children can't even take medicine. You can hear them coughing and you can't do anything to help them. "papersuitcase;15407693" wrote:

Granted. Sims still didn't notice their children were sick, which is what I'm assuming the poster was attempting to hilite.
Other sims have not acknowledged it in any sims game.
One would think that by now some advanced thought-process would take place, but no.
AI has not improved no matter how much one might want to convince themselves that it has.- LatinaBunny9 years agoSeasoned AceYeah, I don't remember past sims games having sims acknowledging other sick sims, either.
Maybe this could be an idea for Sims 4 in the future, or for a future sims game (Sims 5?). - Children can take medicine, they just can't take them if they aren't sick. But if they are, just buy some medicine from the computer or put one in their inventory and they can take it. Or they can also take a nap.

I tried it and it didn't work for me.
Anyway my point was that mom sims should act like moms and they DON'T. Why isn't there a grandma's chicken soup recipe in the sims 4? Why can't they check for fevers or even ask a sim child how they are feeling? They don't ask about symptoms or anything. The animations for half this stuff already exists for doctors anyway so there is no excuse at this point. It's sheer neglect for family players."papersuitcase;15408351" wrote:

Grandma's soup didn't go much farther than the name though (and came in the second to last EP). You could make it even if you weren't not sick. You could eat Grandma's soup at a YA party if you felt like it. None of the Sims game have been much in-depth in that regard. At least in TS4, parents can give medicine, they can make a hot cup of tea for the sick teens. And if they have writing skill, they can make an excuse letter for their children."Neia;15408413" wrote:

Well, the soups cures sims of illnesses so I'd say it does the job perfectly. I really love the name because most families do have an old recipe they passed down. My point was that it was a nod to family and generational play which is something that is severely lacking in the sims 4.We can sit here and argue about which game did it better but I find that irrelevant because I expect more than this from the newest version of the game.
I have tried everything and have not seen the option to give a sick child medicine so if you could please explain how to do so in game I'd be grateful."papersuitcase;15408469" wrote:

I think the grandma's soup was neat but it wasn't the end be all of family play in TS2 either, I sure wouldn't feel like adding grandma's soup would completely change TS4 family play. TS4 have some alternatives, perhaps with a bit less flavour (though the cup of tea is top notch too  ), I personally would like more content about the relations between grandparents/seniors and younger ones. I think it's something that has always been poor in Sims game, and I could certainly use a bit more flavour for when I play my elder Sims. But not only a grandma's soup, I want more !
To give a sick child medicine, you click on a computer, buy the medicine (children can do that too which got a bit of a negative feedback on this forum at some point), put it into the child's inventory (either directly, or by putting it into the world and having the children pick it) and when the child is sick, you can click on it in the inventory and the option is there to take it."Neia;15408524" wrote:

I tried this and it didn't work for me? Again, it's disappointing. I wish there was more motherly love animations like I described above. I find the idea of handing the child medicine to chug himself sort of takes me out of it and I probably wont bother anymore. Thanks anyways.
