Let's play a game, "Expand a Pack": Outdoor Retreat

Today I was thinking... I feel like Outdoor Retreat, Island Living and that supposed idea for a Winter Mountain pack together could be a "Sims 1: Vacation" but with its features extended to add more and more content than Vacation/On Holiday had. But, Island Living is an expansion pack and Winter Mountain is supposed to be a future expansion pack idea. Tell me, what would you add to Outdoor Retreat to make it an entire Expansion Pack in Sims 5. Forget everything we have in Sims 4 packs besides what we already have in Outdoor Retreat. How would you expand Granite Falls? What plants and insects would you like to see on a campsite? What activities woul be interesting to be in this pack? Any occults could be added with it? New recipes? What objects could've been added to it? Families and world lore? etc...
I'm looking forward to discuss that. Remember that its just for fun, just ideas, no need to rain on our parades. Have fun.

    • I would add edible mushrooms and berries. Not for the purpose of herbalism, but for plain cooking. And probably a couple of poisonous ones as well. So next some new recipes containing both. And jam making to go with berries.
    • Activity stuff from TS2 - axe throwing and log balancing. And it would be great if those things initiated contests. Like pie eating table in TS3. From other possible interactive objects - tree houses and climbing parks.
    • Interactive bird watching would be nice. Probably in the form of collection of photos you need to take.
    • Also for me swimable lakes and boats is a must.
    • Some minor things - like silly dance moves you could learn, hiking backpacks as situative accessory (a la backpacks in TS3 UNI).
    • As for supernaturals - werewolves looks pretty logical addition to this theme or faeries.
  • There is not much purpose in visiting Granite Falls in winter season. The hermit is not there. The plants and insects are not there. We can fish, but the rivers don't freeze over. I like the camping aspect and I don't like much the collecting part because I always get disoriented in the forest. I think they could add activities like real rock climbing, ice hole fishing, swimming in the rivers there, snow sports like skiing, sledding, snowboarding, dog sledding. They should try replacing the hermit with santa claus during winter. I think it would be nice if there were animals like mountain goats, eagles, wolves, foxes, rabbits, the abominable snowman. Sims could collect edelweiss, cornflowers, poppies, ferns and fir/pine cones which, if planted, will grow into trees, hazel nuts and chestnuts they could roast. Sims could buy bear rugs and rabbit furs to decorate their house with. Bee boxes placed in an alpine meadow would yield better quality honey. As new recipes, we could have honey wine, and honey drops (for cough or just for something sweet), hot spicy wine and chocolate, pumpkin and cabbage pies and a stag roast. And some hot springs for winter skinny dipping would be fun.
  • Okay, you're hired to track a "new" path recently discovered that goes into uncharted woods. Not much is known about it, except that while it's currently being used by animals it seems to be used by people originally, but how long ago is is a mystery. Following the path you discover a few spots that would be great for camping (and take the time to clear it for use if you choose), a few fishing spots, a great romantic picnic area, a dilapidated cabin that can be refurbished (you choose it's new purpose or leave it alone), and it ends in the discovery of an old mine that you can explore for metals/crystals.
  • Apart from what's already been said, I'd love real bears (not just a sim in a bear costume lol) and bigfoot to make occasional appearances, scaring sims who see them.

I love the bear idea. Maybe something like if you have Seasons and give him honey you can befriend him. There also needs to be some kind of humorous encounter if you're wearing a bear costume.

For me it would be enough if sims could live there. Even if you could only have one residential lot for save, a cabin in the middle of the forest, for the sims that want to truly disconect. A writer searching for inspiration in the middle of nature, a true off the grid experience in a great scenarium...
And the remainig lots could still be rentals...

@Harukotyan so many cool ideas! I think we had Archery in "Sims 1: Vacation", and it would be cool with your other "contest" activities.

@crocobaura I can imagine rock climbing being interactive "objects" disguised as mountain sides, I don't think they would be hard to implement. Also, hot springs for the winter, would be so sweet... Maybe a natural woohoo spot. Really cool ideas!

@beadierturtle I like the "uncharted" aspect of your idea, i used to love adventures in Sims 3 and Jungle Adventures, and I've always felt like they should add that to all worlds. Like the mine from Oasis Springs and the tree from Willow Creek, but with more adventure too it, you know?! I was so disappointed that the cave from Sulani was just a rabbit hole... I thought we would be able to see inside at some point, maybe a mini-quest to find mermadic kelp.

@Huiiie_07 I would totally say "real bears" too. I mean... I love the costume, and would want it to be in my game, but just like a mascot thing. I hate that there's a sim inside the bears... Also, my sims don't get afraid of them, like... its just a moodlet, there's no interaction/reaction. Those bears were so lame. @beadierturtle your ideas for the bear costume are AMAZING haha Imagine befriending a real bear, how cute it would be!!! <3

@telmarina A bigger world would definetely be a must... I can see something like Glimmerbrook, a couple of liveable houses by the highway, and as you go deeper into the woods you find cabins and maybe camp for scouts, chubby sims, bachelors seeking love, etc...
