Matching swatches

If there are swatches in the game, then I would recommend that there is an universal number of swatches, for example 32 swatches for objects in the build mode, and the same 32 swatches for objects in the CAS mode. And then, every object in the build mode and in the CAS mode should have one or two of these 32 swatches as the primary color. That way, we could be truly matching the swatches and colors in the game. The way it is now, it is really hard to match anything.

I recolor things all the time for my own use, so the lack of swatches doesn't bother me since there's a way to do it yourself with s4s.

BUT, we do need all stair railings to have a matching rail and for all fences to have a matching door.

    AND CEILING TILES

As awesome as that is, and I'm not knocking you for doing that, I wish they would make swatches that match. I've dabbled in doing it myself in the past and as fun as it was I still think they need to do it. We're not paying all this money for packs to deal with this. It's time they buckle down come 2019. I want to really see some grind when it comes to this as well as other things you alone have mentioned.

In fact, beds and furniture with different colored parts are my pet peeve. In TS2, they had set swatches for each individual part that you could mix and match anyway you wanted. You want a bed to have the dark wood finish with a white sheet set? You got it! Want to change it later to a red one? Bam! You could do that too! In TS4, it's all-inclusive set swatches and you can't do anything about it and it drives me mad! I mean, they didn't even have the courtesy to give us, say, multiple swatches of each bed frame color with each of the bedding options swapped in. The amount of times I've had to settle for complimentary/contrasting colors because I couldn't keep a consistent color theme thanks to the "one swatch per combo" thing is just staggering!
    THIS is important to me.

    Framework vs soft furnishings.
And not just for beds, but for dining chairs, sofas, arm chairs, any table with a cloth on it.

A lot of stuff comes in a red and black combo, and a black and grey combo. But what if you want green and black? Or blue and black? Or pink and black?

And the video is right. Windows and doors need an upgrade. EVERY style should come in basic white, black, light wood, medium wood and dark wood. It currently feels as though they had multiple people working on the various 'sets', and never bothered to check that they used the same colours, everything feels incomplete and disjointed. As a designer, it's very aggravating. Didn't they hire people who have any concept of continuity in design? Didn't they have a design coordinator?

  • Also, when you select a swatch, it should actually be that colour on the thing or Sim. I don't know how many times I've tried to match a white t-shirt to white pants, but the 'white' swatch is actually grey.

For those saying TS2 got it better...have you played it recently? Without CC? I totally love TS2...but I can't help but feel some people are looking at this aspect of it through rose-colored glasses. The thing that drove me the most insane (and drove me to use a lot of BB-mode CC) was the difficulty in getting rooms furnished and decorated in a way that looked matching.

Now..once you add CC into the mix, it's a different story, especially with CEP. But you can't really credit TS2 for it at that point.

It's been a few months, but yeah. I mainly have CAS CC for TS2, and I don't have additional color swatches for bedding, chairs, etc. at all. The in-game swatches were always more than enough for me thanks to the fact that I can mix and match them however I want and there's a good variety of colors and patterns for the vast majority of objects, so the only thing that held me back any was when I only had the base game and just had fewer objects to choose from.

Besides, comparing TS2 BB with no CC to TS4 BB with no CC, and TS2 is still the obvious winner when it comes to customizing your furniture. TS3's Create-A-Style feature gives it a leg up on TS2, but out of the three games, TS4 is definitely the underachiever in terms of interior decorating.
