N.A.P. Power and Water shut off

So, I implemented the NAPs and voting with my political system and it's been working fine for some years now. But, there is one thing that bothers me a lot. It might be relevant for more NAPs too, but right now I think of the Water and Power saving where there will be a day with no power/water for 10-12 hours.

Is there a cycle for what Weekdays these are in effect, or are they totally random? from the back of my head I think they are supposed to happen once every week, but when they suddenly happens they often ruins my planned day. And my sim was not planning to watch TV and now needs to read a book instead, but when a duke and duchess plan to throw a gala dinner and extra kitchen servants were hired etc, just to find that the power gets off for the full day - well, it's not even fun. Especially not the 3rd or 4th time.

If there is a sign in advance somehow, I'd like to know. If it is meant to be random, I say that is the stupidest idea ever that would never ever be accepted in RL... if so, I must remove those two NAPs from my list of acceptable NAPs.

Anyone?

  • I never got an answer when I asked if you can still use water and power that you produce yourself when the conservation day for those two NAPs go into effect, so I've never allowed them to be passed at all in my game so far. I'm interested in the answer to your question as well.

Sorry for posting a non-answer reply, but it's been a while since your original question and because I'm curious too ... I am bumping it. :)
  • I think it's always Thursday? at least for power. If not Thursday for water then it's always the same day of the week, whatever day that is.

Thanks! I'll make a note of the weekday, if always the same I can at least plan to do something else on that day, or play a household who could not care less. Would be so much handier if the game gave a warning a day in advance. I doubt water and power is the same day, but I'll confirm her the next time I get them.

An thankx for the bump :)
  • Found by left hand googling that Water is shut off Wednesdays and Power on Thursdays. No idea why I could not find the same info yesterday, but I must have worded my search in a less effective way.

    From sims.fandom.com:

Every Wednesday from 9 AM to 9 PM, the household water utility will be shut off. Sims can still use it as long as there's water surplus.

So, @Stormkeep it sounds like producing water (and power) yourself will allow you to shower on Wednesday and throw a gala dinner including cooking food on a Thursday :)
  • @Simmerville, Thank you! I also didn't find and answer when I google searched my question, and you managed to find them both today. I am pleased. :)

My household in Cottage Living produces a large surplus of both water and power, so I wanted to pass those NAPs if the excess could be used. Now I know!
