New Simmer Assistance

I kinda feel like they can’t win, if they have a particular question that hasn’t been answered or is hard to find in a search. They can’t start new threads right away and they end up necroposting or posting off-topic in another current thread. Maybe it would help to just have a “Newbies Question Thread”.

That’s what I’m thinking. A place where any question can be asked and answered by more experienced simmers.

Coming from a new simmer, I can agree where your all coming from, I am stuck on what and where I should post so I forget and I ask multiple questions, and sorry if this is aimed at me but I would talk to the mods to see if we can get this as it would be good. for newbies

The tips and tricks thread seems to be used fairly often by new Simmers, however, it isn't an obvious place for new simmers to ask their questions. I think a Sims basics/FAQ thread would be a good idea.

Would a new forum section be helpful? The "Help Centre" just leads to Answers HQ which isn't really the place to ask the kind of questions new players often have.

It isn’t. I was actually concerned that your legitimate questions were getting flooded by other things and that you weren’t getting the help you need.

I like the idea of having it under General Discussion just because it’s where most of us seem to hang out and we’ll be more likely to notice and help.

No. Not aimed at you. We’ve had several new players lately and I just feel we should be able to make information easier to find. Plus some things going on in General Discussion seemed to be drowning out some other things.

This thread is used by new users to ask questions a lot, and there are a few experienced users who pop in to answer questions. What would you want to do differently with a new thread? Just to be a more obvious place to ask questions? Also have an updated list of tips/tricks/FAQs in the first post?

Edit: According to the first post in that thread, it was meant to be used for exactly what you are proposing:

Perhaps the thread just needs to be renamed and pinned to make it clear that it is the place to ask questions?
