No desire to play

Taking a break is never wrong! It might give you some ideas from other areas in life, too.

Re the no response from sims; did you remove your mods folder? I had something similar very long ago and if I recall correctly it was caused by a CC thing causing lag. You could also see if it occurs in a new save when only playing premade households , not yet adjusted in any way.

I have no problems with the game working correctly, but like you, I pretty much only build or decorate existing houses anymore. The gameplay has been boring for me for quite awhile--it's just too predictable

I share you sentiments as well most of the time.  I started becoming a rotational player as some households would just freeze and lag so you can even play them at all at times.  My main family in the new world has this problem. Sometimes I can play them a bit before the lag, sometimes immediately even when giving them the first interaction.

I combat this I went with the last ep release Love Struck I began putting my focus on building.  Then I was confronted with a new bug,  after three plus days of perfecting the Ophelia Villa,  the lots has items disappearing and then when I try to drop it from the tray reload it all, and the entire house disappears.

So I went to my beloved favorite family and work in progress renovation at oakenstead lot and it was fine for one week,  then same happened there.  So I have moved to a new save with no cc to rebuild the Oakenstead with no cc,  and I currently spending my weekend troubleshooting seeing how I can possibly transfer the lot from my tray to my main save.  All kinds of work around but I never get to play with all these problems.  Playing feels like all setting up and troubleshooting when they release new dlc.

I know the feeling having desire to play Sims4. I do have other games that I go to. With the Sims4 game, I like to start all over by creating a new sim and put her in a place, build her a  house and  have her play a little more before I decided to start all over again.

Yeah, everything's real bleak since they announced basically no Sims 5 ever.

I can't play any other game (genre) for long. The Sims ruined me for other genres. Nothing compares to The Sims, but TS4 is super broken and everything else is looking more and more ancient, by now. sob

Paralives looks like a tacky cash grab with mis-matched art styles. InZoi looks like too pro-ana and I can't deal with how their smiles don't look right to me. I wanted Life By You, which wasn't perfect, but had much more for me. This year's been so sad.

I have been playing since the days of Sims 1 but now i play less and less ,

What ruins it for me is bugs that EA don't seem to be even looking at like not able to go for a meal on a restaurant if on a date , Not had the teen prom come up now for months  and if i go to the venue it is empty . Not able to invite most of my sims on my friends list to go anywhere as it is almost all greyed out . The constant sims staring into space every time i tell them to do something . 

I have pretty much built clubs , parks , saunas , restaurants etc on ever lot availaible and updated a lot of them and now lost interest in building as well ,  Sims 4 packs have so much less content and things to do than Sims 2 and 3 packs , Sims 3 one pack we got Asia, the desert and France to go on vacation to and everything associated with the adventures , Sims 4 each area is split to a seperate pack and so much less to do at each place  .  Now they have decided to dump Sims 5 and continue churning out more and more for sims 4 in the hope people will keep buying it without them fixing first what is so broken with this game , How many months now is it since knitting broke in Sims 4 for instance 

I've just posted similar. I've been away from the Sims since mid last year and I suddenly had the urge to come back. I've been away playing FF a lot! 

But figured since I was really missing Sims I would come back but I'm not hearing anything great about it. I'm disappointed to hear that it sounds like pretty much all expansions are buggy. I really wanted to come back after I lost the desire to play but doesn't sound like it's worth it

I agree with everybody who suggests taking a break. I put the game aside for a while because I was completely hooked on Baldur's Gate 3. Also, the event bugged out on me so I didn't touch the game for weeks and instead stuck to Baldur's Gate and Starfield. I did go back to finish the event once I found a working solution, but at that point it felt more like a chore than fun because I did the rest of week 3 and then weeks 4 to 6 in one go. Not sure about the new event they just announced. If it's as buggy as the last one, I'm not sure I wanna try it. I get why they introduce these events, and the last one was kinda fun until it bugged out. It did get me in the mood for the Life & Death pack, though, so that marketing strategy worked.

Anyway, bottom line is taking breaks can work miracles on your  motivation to play. It works with pretty much every hobby, too.

I don't have any of the game issues, but I do go through periods of time where I don't have much interest. When that happens, I'll go back to TS3, play other games, or work on other hobbies, until I feel like playing TS4 again.
