Several of my Sims (in a household of eight) are walking around sad because their clothes are damp. I didn't see who did the laundry last, but even the Toddlers are affected by it, of which there are FOUR. I went from one save of the same family walking around depressed because they lost three of their grandparents inside of a Sim week!After this latest patch, I rolled back a save and got lucky. I found the one prior to the very first death. I altered their ages with MCCC (thank you Deaderpool!) and hopefully have averted the most unhappy turn my story had taken. But, now my Sims are walking around sad because their clothes are damp! They have a perfectly working dryer. "So, listen up my little Simmies: Erik, Joey, Kayleigh and Hayleigh, I know it's hard to keep up with the schedules you keep, and Kayleigh, the mother of these four precious toddlers has her hands so very full just wrangling her brood, the workload has been split. There are four Young Adults so it shouldn't be that hard. When you gather up the laundry and place it into the washer, please, oh please remember to start the washer. Then when it's ready and you move it to the dryer, don't forget to clean the lint trap and then start the dryer. By no means should you ever, ever ever put the laundry away damp. I'm thinking it's a new bug - my sims dry their clothes, and when I hover over it to put them away, it still says damp sometimes. I actually started several fires because of that, and nearly lost a sim child! But I'm not yet sure, nor have I been to AHQ to see if others have it yet either.

Sims also get wet clothes from walking in the rain.

I never know if the clothes will be damp or dry. Sometimes I feel like it's a gamble I take!

I am currently in a fight with the game's washers and dryers. I have the wonderful mod by LittleMsSams that sims turn on the washer and dryer automatically, and I usually have my sims upgrade the dryer to lintless, less fires that way. :) But mousing over the dryer interactions shows many times, "used clothing" and I am totally baffled, how can a load of laundry that has come out of the washer as being clean and damp is now used out of the dryer?? Whut? I think my sims do twice as much laundry as anybody else for this reason. :s

I'm thinking it's a bug too, my sims have had to dry their clothes multiple times in the dryer before they'd be classified as "dry".

Sometimes the machine breaks and it makes the clothes inside dirty again. And sometimes I get a bug where dirty wet clothes can’t go back through the washer, I only get an option to dry them - those get sold through my sim’s personal inventory and I move on with my life.

But yes, one run in the dryer does not always take, sometimes it needs to be run again. I hover over the options to see the status of the laundry each time I move it.

Have you tried to put the dirty clothes down, first? I've had to do that before I can put the now dirty clothes into the washer to redo a load that should already have been done. Not a good way to care for a full household. Sometimes, however, I will add to washer, clothes from more than one laundry hamper. Works fine, but you really have to remember yourself that you have a Sim doing laundry so that you can send them back to check on it. :O But it's all part of gameplay. I love having laundry in my game. Gives my Homemakers something to do when the wee ones are busy taking a nap.

Yes, I have tried doing that when that bug has happened, and the washer only gave me the option to move the dirty clothes to the dryer. I remember putting the clothes through and ending up with dirty, dry clothes all folded up. Then I tried putting them in the washing machine (can’t remember if I had the option to add them to there, I might have dragged them in because I didn’t have one) but didn’t have the option to run it. In these situations I’ve had to delete every hamper in the house and start fresh to get my laundry working again. Sometimes I replaced the washer and dryer.

Bugginess aside, the damp clothes buff has appeared for me, too, but not since I’ve been more careful to hover over the “put away” option to make sure it’s really dry.

it's not new, if it is a bug at all and not intended, I've had this happen for a looong time that some loads need 2 or more runs in the dryer to get dry...not sure if it gets better with fully upgraded dryers, I usually only upgrade them to lintless (can't be bothered to empty that every time).

I created a wash house like my momma used to have when I was a wee lit'lin back in the day in our country home and I noticed that the only time I've have the clothes that I put away wet is when I told my dude to put away the laundry and then go do something outside. He always takes the laundry with him to the location of the other thing I want him to do. So if it's raining, sure enough when anyone in the house changes clothes, the get angry or sad for wearing wet clothes.

As for the "used" clothing, perhaps remind them to use detergent? :lol:

I think it's because of the action overlapping feature. If I have him put the laundry away before I tell him to do anything outside the wash house, he stands in front of the dryer and poof, they're gone. So once I figured out what was happening, I could control it and now my family of 7 is happily snuggly blissfully warm and fuzzy.

But in previous saves I've had them put clothes away that were still damp. However those were extremely rare conditions as I make my laundry master stay there until the laundry is completely done so that they are immediately handled. I'm a dictator like that.

Also, only one sim in any of my households has a key to the laundry room that way I know that maids, butlers or family members aren't screwing up my system so I always know "which nimrod put the clean clothes away damp."
