Point of thermostat?

I haven't used it yet but I believe when it's hot in the house you can set it to cold for your sims to cool off and vice versa.

I’ve only used the thermostat when it’s a heatwave, my sims never noticed if it was just hot out. I’m just getting started in fall so I’m not sure if they’ll react to cold yet, or if they’ll only fuss if it’s freezing.

I haven’t seen it make a difference yet other than huge bills. Has anyone had their sim tortured yet and killed because of it? If they had I’ll see it atleast made a change but I’ve yet to see it in my game

I had two days in B.B. with freezing weather, my Sims would get the chilled moodlet inside the house unless I turned it on. I started in summer and never needed it until those two days in the middle of winter.

I only learned about the thermostat through these threads. I'm a day behind everyone else since I only got the game on late Saturday afternoon. Still, it's better than having to wait until July, as I first thought. But, my Sims have fireplaces and it's fun to see they have autonomously lit two of them, so far and it's only Fall. I don't need the high bills, and will continue using the fireplace to see how it goes.

Keep us posted on how it goes with the fireplaces. My sims have one next to their front door and it wasn’t enough to keep the house warm, they got the chilled moodlet unless they went over and used the “warm self” interaction on the fireplace. I’m really curious if multiple fireplaces would solve that problem though.

Speaking about badly documented things... It took me 10 minutes of googling to figure out how to get umbrellas. One would think they could have done it like the kanes in Sims 3, or like the free earbuds for Sims 4.

My Sims were freezing in the winter until I turned on the heat. It was the only way they could stand to be inside without wearing their cold weather outfit.

The fireplaces work great. My sims don’t need the thermostat in cold weather using it. And them lighting it autonomously is very cool.
