Pottery - unbreakable glaze

I want my native Chestnut Ridge tribe to have long traditions involving pottery. I want them o be known for a certain style, and I think the raw pottery with no glaze might be their pottery. But we can add unbreakable glaze, which obviously make the craft more solid. Question is then , will pottery item with no glaze at all be very breakable? Or will Pottery skill affect that, making pottery by a well skilled sim be quite unbreakable even  without the glaze? Or is all unglazed pottery short lived?

Picture shows teen daughter Orella Chestnut being mentored by mum, Amalie, who is top skilled. The Chesnut tribe has a tradition of all females maxing the Pottery skills. Some crafts they sell at the local market. This family lives off the grid up at Galloping Gulch, so I had to offer them a small community pottery shed down in the village. Other families might use this shed too, but I doubt they will bother with maxing the skill, so the Chestnut tribe's offer is still of great value. (Hm, maybe it would be better not to glaze at all, when something breaks, they will buy a replacement...)

Anyone?

I must admit that I am looking forward to an answer for this question, Simmerville.  I haven't really had a chance to do a deep into B&H, but that's only because I'm still working on 'habbing out' New Harbor Park. I'm almost finished with the commercial/residential building and landscaping, and then, once I've spruced up the park portion of the lot, I'll be uploading it to the Gallery. That's when I'll be moving my main sim in and have her go to town with the pottery skill. She's already a master gardener and flower arranger, so her business will be named Pots & Plants. ;)

I dont think the level of the maker or quality of the pottery makes any difference on how breakable it is. Specially since you can repair them with gold on lvl 7 pottery. Also Im pretty sure one of my sims cat broke a high quality vase made by a high lvl sim. But I also dont think they will just break by themselves, a sim (or pet...) has to intentionally do it.

I did not know cats could break pottery! My sims was juggling his soccer ball in the midst of his gallery showcase of ceramics and I immediately though- Oh no- you'll break something! Wish they had added that lol.

annh1996 well, I havent seen it but it broke during the time when the sims in the household were working at the store and they have a mischievious cat so Im pretty sure that cat did it.

  • So, now I understand the answer to your question, Simmerville, after having played with the pottery function for a bit. Skill level doesn't affect how 'sturdy' a piece is, because fired/dry clay will always be fragile in it's natural state. So making use of the Unbreakable glazing will make the piece just that, unbreakable. 😊
