Is it correct the Sims must have a meal at a restaurant before ordering a cake? I just tried to order a cake after just requesting a table and it did not work. I have ordered many cakes after meals...so was that problem or could it be something else?

HelloI think that you may need to have a meal before being able to use the bring cake to table interaction.

Actually the interaction has nothing to do with ordering a cake.Do you not have it show up when you click on the table at all ? They sort of bring their own cake.The interaction fails on small tables that have a center piece as there's no room for the cake.

Aging a sim on a cake can cause other people in the restaurant to age up to when theya rent supposed to. Its a known bug and that has happened in my game. Thought u should know that incase u were usin it to age up a sim

I believe I've seen it pop up before sims have even ordered a meal. I'll have to take my sims out again to make sure.

Is there any centerpiece on the table ? It need an empty slot on there in the middle of the table.

@crinrict - quick test - took the candle off the table (but I don't think that was the issue) - in gameplay requested table, seated, ordered cake with no problem. I guess the earlier problem perhaps was related to too much going on and it was just a snag. So - a cake may be ordered without a meal. Lesson learned.

Try putting the candles back and see if the issue reoccurs :D

Hello @crinrict - the action showed up but then disappeared. I tried several times. There was a conversation action that would not delete. The cake action would just appear above the conversation and then disappear. It was not a small table - rather large. I also believe I saw the price of the cake deducted each time. I'll try again and see what happens.

The table was very large - for 8 people - with 2 candles on the table. I will remove the candles for the next experiment. Also I should mention the restaurant is the Hogan's hamburger place. There was a lot of empty room at the back so I added tables behind the restaurant, a bar, a dj stand...so perhaps those additions made a difference. I will do some experiments -

Ahh that s too bad. Hope they know about it.

It's also a bit funny. Do the other sims also get married, if your chef serves a wedding cake? LOL

And you might find all the cake you've tried to order in the household inventory.
I've got the same problem(and yes, in my game it was because there wasn't enough space on the table) and when i went back to my sims house, i open the household inventory to put something in the house. I've found the two cake my game failed to put on the table in the household inventory.
