Right now I give it a 6.5. I like the game and see a lot of potential, but it isn't there yet. I can't play days on end, feel attached and excited etc as I did in TS3. The sims aren't unique and things that happen in their lives are meaningless. I want deeper and more alive sims. Life comes with darkness as well, otherwise you can't truly know what happiness is. Stop making the sims so ladeeda.
When they fix the core and add the things I need to enjoy the game, I'd gladly give it a 9 or even (maybe) a 10 :)
I feel the same way. There were times I played S3 from morning till late in the night and did so much. There is so much to do and content in the base game alone. With it's open world, insects and fish to mess with, infants that really feel like a part of the family instead of something in the backroom, ELIXIRS, ques that don't get cancelled, ability to make sims RUN, shower woohoo, casino, Island Paradise, under the ocean, house boats, university, WA with the ability to really see a world, huge 64x64 to place anywhere you want, ability to make your town look any way you want, SLEEPING BAGS, grocery store to buy the plants you want, the limited farm stuff we got(one thing S3 didn't get right; we needed more, but I'm glad for what they added), miss the toddler with oogers on his/her fingers, taking pictures at festivals and putting them on the wall, the casino, and a million things more. Stylist, babysitting, farming, home interior careers are some that I really miss. Ability to interact with Grim more. More goth stuff. Seems S4 started with a little goth and didn't get much more except for some with the vampires. Also, missing infant/toddler equipment such as the stroller, play mat, play pen, walker, baby swing, riders on the play ground ect.
I have had the huge desire to play the S3 for a long time now and the only reasons I haven't is that I would want several hours to set aside for it, the long save times, & the long getting out of CAS time. I do plan to go back to S3 though. Open world means a bunch to me as a simmer who didn't play the Sims before S3 early days. Those who played previously knew what to expect, but for S3 only simmers, it was a huge shock to my system.
There are very few things that make my S4 experience exciting. I love the Mayor cat. I love finding stuff on city streets...ooh...snow globes. I love the yard sales table for the city, jungle adventure, and for personal use. I love the ability to run a store. I like using the club thing to make other sims come do my gardening. I love being able to find town sims and add them to my sim bins to use at another time or to put them in a house or something I want to do with them instead of the long process of getting to know them in S3. I like the, "come here", interaction. I like the move fence feature. I like the roof system. I like the ability to put more than one lot from the gallery to my lot and even single rooms. I like the toddlers being able to hit one another, bite, ect. I like the careers although I haven't played them lately. Santa NPC- Thank you so much!!! Seasons is really nice although it is missing many things that I expected: float for pool, beach side play, & tanning are the ones that stood out for me.
However, like you said, I don't play days on end, day after day, for an unhealthy amount of time like I did in S3. No open world, lack a customization / placing down plots, missing collecting of insects, more to using aquariums/fish, missing reptiles/rodents, lack of large lots, basic colors not on all CAS, and a host of other missing interactions/content.
