Reducing phone use

I’m currently setting up some apartments in what I think is a mid-to-late 1980s style. I want to try track Sim aging, technology and general calendar years beginning in 1988.
I’m using the old looking TVs etc and I don’t want Sims taking random selfies and such while idle…
