Rental options?

Yes, I think it is something that is wrong with the lot itself. I had two lots in OS do exactly as you described and they were residential lots. I couldn’t even go into build mode while in live and try to fix anything. I moved those builds to different lots to see if it was the build, but it was the lot.

Make it generic. Generic lots usually don't get visited by npcs

Rental lots weren't made for Sulani. That's why it's not working. Hopefully Maxis can update those to work in Sulani.

They do in Sulani. I made one of the premade houses in Sulani Generic and sims come in anyway uninvited. Telling them goodbye doesn't help they stay the whole night.

@catloverplayer, the problem is that in Sulani you are actually given the option to tag a lot as a rental lot (I've only just noticed this). This option only appears elsewhere in the vacation worlds, not in the regular worlds. I don't know whether this was done intentionally, or whether it is a glitch. If it was intentional, it does not work. The lot is not available for selection when you send your sims on vacation and, if you try to move them in, the game treats the lot like any other residential lot, with a purchase price. If it's a glitch, then it needs to be sorted out, because it's causing confusion.

@CrazyboutTheSims, the game will certainly let you change, for eg, a public lot to a residential lot, but making a lot residential won't allow your sims inside an empty house. They can visit the lot, as yours did, but they won't be able to use any of the buildings. There has to be someone occupying the house and that sim has to invite your sims in. If you want to create the illusion of a rental cottage, then, as suggested, you need to tag the lot as generic, or choose one of the other public lot options (I made mine a National Park).

Thank You for the suggestions. Sulani is the perfect vacation world. I don't care that much for the ones that are for vacations. I wish they would make them all for vacations or if you want your sims to have their home there an option. I will try one of the other lot tags.

I know there are mods for rentals but it'd be nice to get more options without it

It sounds like the code is incomplete and is a feature they were going to implement, didn't finish and then made the big mistake of not removing it.

I have had sims use a residential lot in Sulani with no problem getting in and cooking, using bed, bathroom etc. I also made one lot generic... they both seemed to work for a type of vacation for me. Another option is to make a bar, lounge, or nightclub on one floor, and a bedroom, bathroom and even kitchen if you want on a different floor.

That's a bug. I had sims coming into a generic lot in Sulani, they were vendors that wanted to use the stuff in the house to fill their needs. The same thing is happening in San myshuno with neighbors... They come into the house to use the bathroom or the bed... But it's not supposed to happen. They should be pushed to leave when the needs are low.
