Sentiments and Rotational Play

I read that some sentiments can last for weeks while other fade away faster, so I suppose it all depends on your rotational schedule. Which type of situation are you worried about? I play rotationally but don't follow a schedule myself, so in case I got a juicy sentiment, I'd stick around and play longer with the family. Or I could play another family and then return to the earlier family before the sentiment wears out. The sentiment system does seem to favour sticking longer to one household or playing just a few households.

If you mean to cut back on your families played in a rotation, you could go into the desired household, do a Save As, rename it and then you won't accidentally overwrite it. Do this for each household you wish to remove. Then, go back to the household you wish to stick with, (so to speak) and the other households will still be there to interact with, but you won't have to worry so much about what sentiments hit them, since you've already got them saved. (I do hope I made that clear enough. If not, just ask.)

I’m a bit sad to hear that the sentiments just fade away. I was rather hoping they would be more like memories and have longer impacts on the Sims lives. I also play rotationally and I’m wondering about this too.

I think it was Graham who said that sentiments last for varying lengths of time and they fade away, but you can also prolong the sentiment by repeating the action that caused it. Frankly I wouldn't want my sims stuck with strong sentiments their whole life, I think it's normal that they fade away after a while. Now we need to see how long certain sentiments last by default, for some sims they may last longer depending maybe on their traits. I imagine it will be possible to mod them if you want certain sentiments to last longer.

I always assumed that anything ephemeral like emotions and needs were just dumped when you changed away from a household?

I hope this isn't what happens with sentiments. It would be great if they were held as they were until you rotate back.

I'm not really worried about this tbh, I think it makes sense that they fade away it seems more realistic.
Like if I had one good hike with people I wouldn't feel excited about it for the rest of my life ;)
Also I am guessing that certain sentiments are easy to get again for example the "grudge" sentiment, if the relationship itself didn't change it shouldn't be a problem to get the grudge again fast when two sims who dislike eachother meet.

I also don't play on a schedule though but as long as I want, got aging off.

It's a concern, but I'm going to take the plunge, lol. It's possible that they might just sit in stasis or until you go back to that household, but then again the way relationships decay, the Sentiments probably decay as well. I can't remember if they mentioned a cheat for them or not in the livestream, but it would be nice to have access to some for rotational players so we don't have to rebuild our Sentiments every time we switch.

There's two types of sentiments, short-term and long-term. I'm going to assume long-term take much longer to fade away than the short term ones, but their decay rate remains to be seen.

I think @RavenSpit brings up a great point. I'm hoping it depends on the sentiment. I think like with "grudge" if two of my Sims are enemies, I'd imagine the sentiment still being in place if I rotate to another household and rotate back later, as the relationship between the two Sims would still be poor. But I guess we'll see how it works.
