Sims 4 is buggy, and it could get worse .

I wish I would experience what you mean. Sadly the bugs that we only experienced are the ridiculous outfit bug in Parenthood Launch, Broken Veterinarian in Cats and Dogs Launch and the NAP in Eco Lifestyle. Apart from that I don't have any bugs on the game as of the moment that make the game feels buggy.

I do think that if the game is buggy enough, or to many players, they should invest more on their QA.

I believe the devs said early on that Sims 4 was actually created more robustly and intended to sustain itself longer. This, of course, doesn't mean completely bug free. The more you add to any Sims game, the higher the chances of bugs happening. This is The Way. It does mean that the game can take a lot more weight than previous iterations, though. From my own experience, this proves to be true so far.

But I think, also, that the pandemic has something to do with it as well. Quality took a bit of a dive this year for the EPs and I'm not talking about actual content, I think that's been fine, but the glitches and bugs got crazy after lockdown. I think it might be prudent for them to take a bit of a breather, step back for a few months, and iron out as many bugs as they can, then proceed with new content releases. I know they'll probably never do this, but I feel that they should. It could squeeze another couple of years out of the game to buy more time for Sims 5, if it is indeed in the planning.

i have a theory which is that devs keep making some mediocre and specific packs just so people doesn't buy all of them and so it doesn't destabilize the game but people keeps buying everything LOL of course there are exceptions so this theory isn't very reliable

so anyways i don't know if the problem is the messed engine or the programmers within the studio, or both.
ea should really allow maxis to have a bigger bug testing team. and allow more time from pack to pack just so unprofessional issues like the crashes on the pack launch don't happen

It will get worse. TS4 is well on its way to forty separate pieces of DLC. Getting all of those pieces to play nicely with each other, with the base game, and with an almost infinite combination of player hardware will only become more difficult with time.

In my opinion, while I didn't experience the crashes, I think these major issues are proof the engine can't support any additional packs/features. I am, however, noticing a bit of a drop in my framerates on this toaster (16GB RAM; but a hideously outdated i7--a 3770K; but it was a contemporary processor when TS4 was new) The engine of the game was created for what was to be an online spinoff, which got canceled and then badge-engineered with a few tweaks to become TS4. It's why so many features from its predecessors don't exist, and why I don't expect them to ever show up. I honestly wonder; six years later, how we'd view the franchise if both Maxis and EA said; "You know what, online gameplay blew up in our face with SimCity 2013, so let's scrap that idea completely and start over, with a much better game with an engine designed for a top-grade single-player simulation and not an MMORPG." Keep in mind, Cities: Skylines is based on Unity; as many games are these days.

This is why, in part, I look for Paralives and the game Paradox Tectonic has in the works to perhaps really be what Cities: Skylines did to the SimCity franchise--and was also published by Paradox. Which reminds me, I need to download it on this PC.

Online games are quite robust.

I wonder because it was supposed to be online.Thats part of the issue .This was not meant to be offline .

The more content you add WITHOUT FIXING THE PREVIOUS ONE, the worst it gets. They keep adding dlc after dlc without making fixes first, and well, thats terribly bad for any game. And in the end, the time it will take to fix anything will be monumental.

I really hope you are not talking about bug-freewill, if so, you are clueless and you really need to play more online games lol. Single player games are more robust, since the ages of times, for obvious reasons, the most important one, online games need to be updated with new content pretty often and devs usually prioritize creation of content over fixing things. And this happens in basically 98% of the mmorpgs (with a few exceptions from big companies).
