- Sharooonia4 years agoSeasoned AceSome people say they have improved autonomy. Personally the only thing I nave noticed from them is moodlets and annoying idle animations. My sims will still dance to music even when it makes them angry. They don’t ever choose to play their favourite music, they rarely do their favourite activities. It’s nice to look at my sims likes & dislikes to get an idea of their personality but other than that I’m not finding them very impactful on gameplay.
- aww, thanks so much! had hoped they effected the sim a bit more. So I could sway them to more things that fit them.

I don’t get why they still do the things they dislike. I have to cancel out the interaction.
I haven’t noticed any impact on autonomy which I would expect. - My sim dislike singing but with autonomy on every single minute I'm not controlling her she's still starting to sing and of course get tense buff the same moment :s It's really annoying that liked/disliked activities don't influence autonomy properly.
- I don’t understand likes and dislikes very well. Yesterday I saw that my sim dislikes yellow, I don’t even know why. Also, I played some music that he likes and he got happy, but when I stopped the music he instantly got to the previous mood (I think it was uncomfortable), so I don’t find it very useful
- ThriorTheSecond4 years agoSeasoned AceWhen it comes to autonomy I've had mixed results. With certain sims they do seem to have an effect while the other ones seem to pay no attention at all and do their best to make themselves miserable.
E.g. Axel (traits: Evil, Cheerful, Music Lover) dislikes mischief and has been consistently rejecting these interactions, almost never doing them himself either. Then again, he didn't exactly do them in the past either so dunno BUT one notable change is that he hardly ever seems to "troll teh forums" anymore. I recall him doing that waaaaaay more before the update. From my understanding it counts as a mischief interaction so maybe the dislikes are actually having an effect here. I mean, I had to buy a computer for Vlad's place for a while and Vlad immediately became addicted to "trolling teh forums". He shares two traits with Axel but Axel's autonomous behavior with a computer is way different and he mostly just blogs Style Guide or something. Doesn't play games either (that's another thing he dislikes). Meanwhile Axel's wife Abigail (traits: Goofball, Clumsy, Geek) dislikes mischief too (she insisted) but she's also a Goofball and does autonomous mischief WAY more often so I guess the trait is partly overriding the dislike (recently she went completely bonkers with it but that was mod influence). For some reason she also insists swimming laps in the pool while disliking fitness. Though I wonder if her possibly being in a energized mood affects that.
Dancing seems to kind of be the worst thing to dislike for everyone still seems to insist doing that regardless of their traits/mood/dislikes/likes. I had a sim (traits: Gloomy, Erratic, Art Lover) who dislikes dancing autonomously dance to a music genre she also dislikes and, in the end, she had managed to work that "having a bad time" moodlet to the red. Amazing.
Maybe I should give one of my vampires the "Dampened Emotions" thing for a while (so that their mood will stay neutral), remove any mods possibly affecting autonomy and then inspect what they do with their likes/dislikes.
Currently it does feel like the system certainly could do with some improvement. I personally really wanted them to affect autonomy but, like stated, have had mixed results which also leave me thinking whether these results actually have anything to do with likes/dislikes and are instead caused by other factors. - Peapod794 years agoSeasoned AceThe only thing I've noticed is that they get moodlets when they do things that they like or dislike. However, they don't work in the ways that I'd expect. I'd expect my sim who likes pop music to turn on the radio to pop music. Instead, they turn it to a station they hate, STILL dance to it and then get a negative moodlet that they don't like the music! Sims that like or dislike activities don't do them more or less than they did before either, which is something else that I'd expect. I'm hoping that this is just the start though and they tune this all better to work and have meaning because as of right now, it's meaningless except for your own story in your own head (which I could do before this system anyway).
- Chicklet453684 years agoSeasoned AceThey have absolutely no significant relevance to me, 90% of the time I don't even assign any to a newly created sim because I don't care for even more moodlets and to me there is no point in them if all they're going to do is make them happy or angry/tense. I was hoping it would effect the anonymous actions.

This is exactly what I had been hoping for too. - MVWdeZT4 years agoSeasoned AceThe main thing I've noticed is that their fun level will rise when doing an activity they like. So if you're assigning them, handiness, programming, and writing are good likes to give. Also, if you have a Sim with the active or dance machine trait, don't let them decide to dislike fitness or dancing. They'll want to do those activities, and get tense when they do, or tense when they haven't done them in a while.
