Sims losing cc clothing even tho I only moved my save folder and not my cc folder

Hi! I have a small problem that maybe some of you maybe able to help me. I decided to move one of my save files to my deskop, while I was testing some mods. I did not mod any mod tho. When I put my save back to my game and opened, I realize that some of my sims were not wearing some of the cc clothes or cc hair they used to have even tho I never delete or move any of my cc folder. I was wonder if someone know how can I fix this or if there's a mod that avoid that sims keep losing their cc clothes or hair even tho I didn't move my cc folder. thanks in advance

  • Where did you move the save folder to?

You have to have your saves and cc folders in the same Sims4 folder, you will also need to copy the cfg file in your old mods folder and paste it into your new mods folder if you have moved to a new Sims4 folder with a new mods folder. Because the cfg file is what “remembers you had your sims in cc. But if you saved when you exited after seeing they weren’t wearing the cc anymore you will have to redress them anyway.

I just moved the save files temporarely to deskop. I didn''t delete or touch any of my mod folder or it's content and didn't touch the cfg file either. I only moved the save file....
  • You have to have the save folder in the same Sims4 folder as the mods. I guess I’m not totally understanding what you’re saying? You moved the save folder to the desktop…then you turned the game on with your save folder on the desktop and the sims didn’t have cc on? If that’s the case it’s because with your saves we’re removed from the Sims4 folder you’re opening a brand new game save file now and the sims are “vanilla” meaning no cc and you will have to dress them all in your cc or move your saves back to your Sims4 folder and play with your already dressed sims.

Maybe I'm not explaining correctly...english is not my first language. I just move to "check" my mods. when I put back the save files on the game, some families were not dressed with my cc clothes, not all tho. I never touched my mods folder tho.
  • When checking mods, it's easier to move the mods folder to desktop, not touching anything re save files.

What I do not understand is how you could open your game if the saves were no longer in the Electronic Arts folder? And if you could, why did you save again when things did not work? If nothing was saved, then it might only be a matter of moving files back in.

  • I feel really sorry for the OP in this thread, seeing as so many people are misunderstanding the question.

She moved the save to the desktop and then did things in the game to test some mods but, from how she worded it, NOT in that save that she moved. I think she moved it to protect it from accidentally getting messed with while she was doing testing.

Then she moved it back where it belongs before loading it again, and found weird things related to stuff missing on her sims.

She did not open the save file while it was moved to her desktop and did not move around any CC, so that is why she is confused about the problem.

Did I summarize that at all accurately, @Nyane21?

Either way, I have no idea what could be causing you issue, other than perhaps something related to the mods you were testing had a lasting impact or you accidentally did do something you don't realize that you did.

You also didn't mention whether you deleted your caches both before and after doing things to test some mods. Deleting caches is something I recommend a person do any time they do anything related to changing around mods; so maybe not doing that, particularly after the "testing" is what is the cause of the problem.

Oh okay between this explanation and @Stormkeep’s explanation it makes sense now. Unfortunately like Stormkeep I also don’t know what could cause it, unless…did you by chance delete the localthumbcache file after testing the mods?

I have issues with townies losing clothing with CC in my game.

Could be a mod and how it's set.

I have more than one save on my game and I only moved one.
  • @Stormkeep OMG! Thank you so much!!! That's exactly what I was trying to say and yes, I deleted all caches files. I always delete before I open my game. AND AGAIN THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR UNDERSTANDING WHAT I WAS TRYING TO SAY...I was starting to get very frustrated.
