- No it's not just your game. The Sims you don't control no longer grow and expand their families on their own. As far as I can tell all they do is age on their own. It's a bit of a bummer, but I've always loved the Sims 2 style where no Sim does anything drastic without that house being active.
- It's probably because when you're playing with a family, other sims just simply aren't loaded in. As far as the game knows a that moment, only your played sims and the sims walking around in the neighborhood exist. Because of this, the game simply can't continue to simulate the other families, because for the moment they don't exist.
Though as far as I know, the game should be populating empty houses. I believe you can turn this on somewhere in the settings (though I'm not sure). - sakura-drops11 years agoRising AdventurerIf you want families you don't play to have babies and stuff go to household management and add some kids into their household (preferably using the 'play with genetics' option so they actually look like the parents). It's not ideal but it works. I have townies who are the grandkids of the townies my game started with, which feels a lot nicer than the game continuously adding random strangers with no connection to anyone to the population.
- The game doesn't do story progression. What I did is left aging off for a while, and rotated play between the Caliente's, the Landgraabs, the Goths, the BFF's and the Roomies and make sure they all had some kids. I also went ahead and married two of the BFF's off to each other. Then I kept playing my family for a while till the babies aged up. Once the babies aged up I moved all the richer kids into two boarding schools.
I repeated this again and had some of the families have more babies. Now that there's tons of kids to take over when the parents pass on, I turned aging back on and mostly just play my family and the two boarding schools here and there.
Here's what my towns looked like last time took a screen shot. There are now more kids in each school and some of the young ones are teens now. I'll update this again in my profile later. :) it seems like a lot of work but it's actually really fun to play the whole world.
As you rotate you can also have parties and this helps to make sure all the families in the worlds react to each other. Sometimes when you get back to a family you find out they've had some affairs. Lol. - @hmae123 Thanks for the insight into another play style and the pics.
I truly hope they add some story progression, but with the choice to turn it off for those who have a different gaming style. - Yeah what im doing now is repopulating, Lots of woohooing and adopting here and there... SO how would i go about playing with genetics if the household is already in the map... Thank you for all the comments. This really bothers me that they dont even have the option. Im spending a lot of time repopulating and not enough time actually building and working on the families i wanna work on

You're welcome! I've actually never played this way before. I've never really played the premades all, except a little bit in sims 2. But I didn't like the towns growing empty so decided to do something totally different then my normal play and found myself having blast. :)
I do remember reading something recently that they were going to look into story progression though. So hopefully they will tweak this soon.- > @hmae123 said:

I found this interesting because I've spent a good part of my morning doing the same kind of thing. Grouped some up, rearranged some, changed some clothes/hair... then I started loading the unplayeds onto a lot (one at a time) to see who they know, the stuff CAS doesn't show you.
My population has been hovering around 140. I won't be turning aging on till they fix the culling and cap issues.
Anyway, I put them on the map, check their relationships etc, and when I finish I evict them and mark them unplayed again.
So far I've deleted maybe 3. And discovered that the 2 men I added (for Vivian and Lydia) are both making time with one of the foster moms. And that Bob Pancakes has a thing going with another bartender.
Perhaps I should check in with my NPCs more often.
I haven't moved much "in-world" time today, but playing paper dolls has been pretty fun too. I've enjoyed getting to know my townies a little better.
